Chapter 69 - L.E.Y.A Goes After The Monarchy

Kara sat back in her chair, the lights of New York flickering through the penthouse windows as she swirled her drink absentmindedly. Across from her, Wanda and Jean were lounging on one of the overstuffed couches, sifting through the latest intelligence reports while Natasha leaned against the bar, flicking through purchase logs. Rogue stood by the window, sipping a glass of whiskey, and Gwen was busy at the other end of the room, typing away on a sleek laptop as she finalized financial transfers. The soft hum of conversation filled the space, a mixture of strategy, amusement, and, of course, reckless financial indulgence at Magneto's continued expense. The mood was light, almost celebratory. They had successfully rewritten the political landscape, left the X-Men in total disarray, and secured a stranglehold on the Brotherhood. And now? Now, they would move to their next grand endeavor.

Gwen finished typing and leaned back, stretching her arms before glancing toward Kara. "Alright. The money's been wired, and Dr. Octavius has full access to every resource he needs." She gave a satisfied nod. "We just funneled billions into his fusion research. No strings attached. Well… no strings that he knows about, anyway."

Kara set her glass down and studied Gwen thoughtfully. "So, we're funding a mad scientist with Magneto's money. A villain's fortune being used by another villain to advance villainous science for our own villainous ends." She exhaled, nodding in appreciation. "The irony is beautiful."

Gwen smirked. "I thought you'd appreciate that."

Across the room, Rogue chuckled. "Magneto's gotta be feelin' it by now. Man's already up to his neck in debt, and we're out here settin' him up for financial ruin."

Natasha tapped a finger on the bar. "Speaking of which, I checked his latest statements." She paused for effect. "He's just crossed the point of no return—his debt is officially unpayable."

Kara clapped her hands together. "Oh, that's fantastic."

Jean flipped another page in her report, her expression vaguely amused. "With that handled, we need to talk about something bigger."

Kara tilted her head. "What could be bigger than funding the rise of an insane scientist?"

Jean looked up, her expression unreadable. "Where are we going to put it all?"

Kara blinked. "Put what?"

Jean gestured around. "All of it. This empire we're building. We've got power, influence, resources. But we don't have a home."

The room fell silent for a beat as the realization settled in.

Kara slowly sat up, crossing one leg over the other, her eyes glinting with something dangerous. "You're right," she murmured. "We need an evil lair."

Rogue chuckled. "Somethin' tellin' me you're not talkin' about a secret hideout in the middle of nowhere."

Kara grinned. "No. We need an empire. A country. A whole damn nation." She gestured around. "Somewhere we can rule, our way. Somewhere where we make the rules. Where no one tells us no." She stood, hands on her hips. "Because I'm going to have it my way—or I'll slap you so hard you'll fly into the nearest highway."

Wanda tapped her fingers on her knee, her expression thoughtful. "Sokovia."

Kara turned to her, intrigued. "You want Sokovia to be our empire?"

Wanda nodded. "It's already lawless. A power vacuum. And more importantly—" she tilted her head slightly—"we already have an army there."

Kara stared at her. "You mean the mass graveyard of melted politicians?"

Wanda's expression didn't change. "Yes."

There was silence.

Then Kara grinned.

"Oh, I love your enthusiasm," she said, clearly impressed. "And we're definitely turning Sokovia into an undead kingdom at some point." She waved a hand, considering the idea. "But I can't live with the smell."

Wanda sighed. "Yeah. The rotting flesh thing does get old after a while."

Natasha shook her head. "So, not Sokovia. Then what?"

Rogue hummed in thought. "What about England?"

Kara blinked. "England?"

Rogue shrugged. "It's an island. Easy to control. Europe-adjacent, so y'all can still go shoppin'. Got history, prestige, influence."

Kara leaned back, considering.

Then, slowly, she smiled.

"You know…" She tapped her chin. "That's actually brilliant."

Natasha crossed her arms, watching her. "You just want to be Queen of England."

Kara met her gaze without hesitation. "Yes."

Jean exhaled softly, closing her folder. "So that's it, then. We're taking England."

Kara stood up, rolling her shoulders. "Alright, ladies. If we're going to conquer a country, we need to look the part."

Rogue cracked her knuckles. "Time to max out Magneto's credit card again?"

Natasha gave her a sideways glance. "Obviously."

Jean and Storm exchanged a look before nodding. "We'll handle infiltration."

Wanda leaned forward. "I'll track weak points in the government."

Natasha pulled out a sleek tablet. "I'll secure passports, security clearances, and hidden weapons caches in London."

Kara's expression turned downright gleeful. "And I will get a wardrobe fit for a queen."

Their plan was in motion.

Halfway across the world, in a South African gold mine, Magneto wiped the sweat from his brow, the pickaxe in his hands heavy as he swung at the rocks in frustration. His body ached, his patience had long since evaporated, and worst of all—he could feel that his financial ruin was only getting worse.

Above him, a banker in an expensive suit scrolled through the latest statement. His lips curled slightly. "This man is never getting out of debt," he muttered, shaking his head.

Back in New York, L.E.Y.A. stepped onto their private jet.

It was a massive, custom 747—gold-trimmed interiors, full bar, lounge area, high-tech war room.

They settled in, the engines roaring to life as they prepared for takeoff.

Kara stood near the window, looking out at the New York skyline one last time.

Her reflection stared back at her, the gleam in her eyes undeniable.

Then she turned, facing her harem.

"Alright, England," she murmured. "Get ready for your new Queen."

As the plane ascended into the sky, the world unknowingly braced for what was coming.

L.E.Y.A. had set its sights on a new prize the monarchy.
