Jessica blinked slowly, still caught in the haze of sleep. Her mind was groggy, the line between dream and reality not yet fully clear.
She squinted at the figure sitting casually on the chair near her bed.

The silhouette remained exactly where it was. Still confused, she rubbed her eyes with both fists, slowly and gently, like wiping sleep from a foggy window.
