"An astonishing strike!" Chapati exclaimed from the commentary booth as Bacchus landed safely.
"Bacchus, who was at a disadvantage just moments ago, has suddenly turned the tables and delivered a devastating blow to Ed! Is this match already decided?"
Bacchus let out a small chuckle as he casually picked up his sake jug.
In his mind, the strikes he had just landed were more than enough to deal severe damage to Ed.
There was no need to rush.
"Hic~ That should be about it." Bacchus murmured to himself.
"If that's all, then it's nowhere near enough." A voice rang out from behind him, causing Bacchus to tense slightly.
He slowly turned his head, only to see a silhouette gradually emerging from the cloud of dust.
Ed calmly patted the dust off his clothes, straightened out his slightly disheveled outfit, and frowned.
"That was a bit much… I really like this outfit, you know. You went a little overboard."
"You bastard…" Bacchus gritted his teeth slightly, beads of sweat forming at his temple.
"You took my unguarded attacks head-on, and this is all the reaction you have?"
"Huh?" Ed paused for a moment before breaking into a small smile.
"You've got it wrong. Even I would get hurt if I took those hits completely unguarded. But before you attacked, I had already reinforced my body with a layer of magical protection."
"This guy… he's no ordinary opponent." Bacchus' expression grew serious.
Ed had spoken as if it were nothing, but Bacchus knew better.
Even with magical reinforcement, being able to withstand his attacks so effortlessly was proof of just how formidable Ed truly was.
Ed stretched his body slightly before turning his gaze toward Bacchus.
"Now, I'll be serious."
Before Bacchus could respond, a surge of immense magical power erupted from Ed's body, illuminating the entire arena with a dazzling white light.
"Holy Light Magic?!"
Seeing the radiant glow enveloping Ed, the members of Fairy Tail's Tenrou team all turned their eyes toward the silver-haired young man in the stands.
That unmistakable sacred brilliance was the defining feature of Noel's Holy Light Magic.
Meanwhile, the Fairy Tail B-team members—excluding Laxus—also curiously looked toward Noel.
"Ed's magic was taught by me." Noel answered their unspoken question before continuing, "However, Ed's magic is not identical to my Holy Light Magic. Mine is more balanced, excelling in offense, defense, speed, healing, and purification. On the other hand, Ed's magic focuses primarily on attack power and speed—it's a magic specialized for combat."
In the arena, the radiant white light gathered around Ed's arms.
With a subtle movement, the light transformed into a long spear, which he then hurled toward Bacchus.
Bacchus' expression turned serious.
He swung his magic-infused palm diagonally, slicing the spear of light in half.
However, to his surprise, the severed magic suddenly exploded, engulfing him in a brilliant blast.
"Cough… cough…!"
As Bacchus finally managed to break free from the explosion, what greeted him was a glowing white fist heading straight for him.
Boom!
Ed's punch landed hard against Bacchus' cheek, sending him flying through the air.
Not giving Bacchus any chance to counterattack, Ed's hand had already conjured a white sword of light, which he swung down at Bacchus with full force.
"You… really make me tremble with excitement." Bacchus muttered as he raised both palms in front of him, forcefully blocking Ed's light sword.
However, doing so cost him his balance, and Ed was never one to let an opportunity slip away.
"Light's Judgment." Ed murmured.
Suddenly, multiple beams of light shot out from his body, transforming into glowing chains that wrapped around the off-balance Bacchus.
A surge of powerful holy magic coursed through the chains, engulfing Bacchus completely.
With a thunderous explosion, Bacchus' body plummeted from mid-air and crashed into the ground.
The entire arena fell into a stunned silence for a few seconds before Chapati, the announcer, finally recovered and shouted:
"The winner is—Ed!! Fairy Tail A earns 10 points, bringing their total to 32 points! With overwhelming strength, Ed has decisively defeated Bacchus, securing Fairy Tail A's position at the top today!!"
"OOOOHHH!!" The stadium erupted into cheers.
"Incredible… He defeated Bacchus so easily?" Erza muttered in shock.
As someone who had fought Bacchus multiple times, she knew just how powerful he was—an S-Class Mage-level opponent.
Yet, Ed had taken him down without even using his full strength.
It was enough to leave even Erza astonished.
Among the competing teams in the stands, the more analytical mages shared the same thoughts.
While Ed's name was well-known in Fiore, few had actually witnessed his true power firsthand.
Since he had never participated in the Grand Magic Games before, today was the first time these elite mages got a clear understanding of his immense strength.
Each of them, almost instinctively, began calculating their own chances if they were to face Ed in battle.
.................
Somewhere in Fiore, a stark contrast to the lively chaos of the outside world, an eerie silence loomed over the place—almost deathly still.
Inside a dimly lit room, several shadowy figures stood motionless.
One of them was the first to lift their hood, revealing a delicate yet striking face—it was Garlos, the Third Throne of Demon God's Soul.
After scanning the group and confirming their presence, Garlos gave a slight nod.
"Aside from Ophelia, Lance, and Tsukiyo, everyone else is here, correct?"
"Yeah, everyone's here… but honestly, Garlos, aren't you being a little too impatient?"
A young man with messy green hair and matching green eyes spoke up.
He was none other than Dylan, the Fifth Throne of Demon God's Soul.
Dylan let out a long yawn, his face filled with exhaustion.
With a sluggish voice, he muttered, "It's only the second day of the Grand Magic Games, and you're already calling all of us together? I just finished a mission at the Fiore border and had to travel all night to get here… I'm exhausted."
"Stop complaining, Dylan. This matter is too important to take lightly, no matter how cautious we are." The one speaking this time was the Seventh Throne, Reign.
"In the past, it wouldn't have mattered much… but this year, we're at the final stage, and with Lord Nord involved—"
"So boring." A sigh came from the side.
A woman named Stella let out a huff before casually wrapping her arms around the delicate-looking girl beside her.
"You think so too, don't you, Tina?"
The girl Stella was holding had striking red twin-tails and matching red eyes.
Even as Stella embraced her, her expression remained calm.
However, what stood out the most was the bag of snacks in her hands, which she kept munching on continuously.
In response to Stella's question, the girl gave a slight nod and spoke in a monotone voice:
"Tina agrees with Stella's opinion and is secretly complaining in her heart about how Garlos doesn't understand that staying up late is bad for the body. Tina attempts to express her righteous indignation."
"Tina, at the very least, Garlos is still our senior and one of the Thrones. Until we take down one of the others, it's best to show him the proper respect, don't you think?"
Luther said with a harmless smile.
A dark vein twitched on Garlos's forehead as he looked at this group of troublemakers, feeling an ominous pain in his stomach.
