Chapter 11 - The Chamber

Nice little elevator music. Throws off the vibes that is going on with the company, is want I'd say this place is. Alone is this slow crawling elevator. Heading for her office that she requested I be to.

Before that I headed to my dorm area and showered getting the blood and slightly tending to my bruises and cuts I got from my 'training'. I got a good pair of cloths on as well.

I visited her office on time after a training session and "she told me to leave get cleaned up." That forced me to leave so fast.

Came back later, about fifteen minutes later and I was washed and my cloths still casual she told me "Start dressing better but this will do."

Ever since then I have never entered her office without being washed and changing into better looking cloths, such as the ones I'm wearing now. A black suit, no tie and brown dress pants. Both have been 'borrowed' from John.

"Ding"

The elevator comes to a stop, music as well. Leaving me to enter a corridor. No doors and any side just a corridor with one door at the opposite end. As if to make someone run to survive a horror movie character try making to the elevator before being killed ruthlessly by a horrible monster.

Leaving the elevator door it starts closing automatically behind me. With a "Ding" it leaves again to go pick up and drop off someone else, like a tireless worker. Doesn't take long to get to the door and slowly swing it open, making a small squeaking noise.

I enter Ms. Rose's office. She sits on a chair behind a desk that has a computer a picture frame with the picture she once should you months ago and a lab-line phone, that she is currently on, surprisingly those didn't stop being made.

Not facing my direction. Looks out a window that is the back side of her office. Giving her a view of all the people on the bottom of the world while high in the top of the world.

She signals for me to come in the room and sit in one of the two chairs stationed in front of the desk. Entering the room even more shows a decorated wall on the right side that shows her shaking hands with a lot of important people across the world. The president Obama and his then wife, Michelle, along with the North Korean Supreme leader, Kim Jong Un.

Walking in front of the cushioned seat of the chair I sit. Letting myself rest from the bruising and beating I got earlier. Even when I'm sitting I'm still woozy my head still hurts but my body is being forced to move to not fall a sleep on this well comforting chair.

She puts her hand on the bottom of the phone and tells me:

"Keith give me a moment."

Listening to her I sit a little more comfortably and relax. Leaning my head on top of the chair. I stare at the ceiling, Ms. Rose called it a type of 'false ceiling'. Never really understood.

"Yes he's been in the chamber already. I've brought him to it multiple times now."

They are talking about me over the phone conversation. The chamber, practically a giant fish tank. The first time I went, people were there dressed in lab coats, no surprise, it's for science they probably want it to be clean.

The chamber on the opposite side of the window. Everyone on this side staring at a screen for the readings of the chamber. I'd have to guess because of the structure on the screen. Thia gets my attention again.

"When you get into the chamber lay down and relax we have to do this to check if you'll be okay for the Experiment."

Thia explains. She gives me clothes, well more like a suit. A diving suit.

"Please change your clothes and come back. The locker is right there behind you."

Turning to the direction of her finger. She points to a door behind me that has the label of 'change room'.

Quick five minutes in and out of the change room and I'm already, ready with the diving suit on. Suit is riding up my ass though.

She attaches a oxygen tank to the back of the suit and gives me a mask which I can only think is the one that's supposed to give me my oxygen. We go through a door to enter the now bigger area of the room for the chamber.

She directs me that when I get into the chamber to try on put my whole body to the lowest possible point. Adding at the end and I quote:

"It hurts less."

This giant sized, standing upright, fish tank looking mechanism, full of water. Following Thia, I go around to the back of the tank to a ladder. She reminds me of the words she spoke and walked off glancing back every now and again before settling beside another doctor, Doctor Evans. Her eyes, those beautiful black eyes, you can saw the worry in them. Now it has me scared making me wonder.

'What is going to happen inside this 'chamber'?'

I foot pushing myself up and another hand pulling. This tank is double my height. Making it tall as f*ck. Three more sets of pushing and pulling till I'm at the top of it.

"Yo, guys there's a hatch on top can I just pull it open."

I get a thumbs up and stare back down at the hatch. Buttons are on top and a weird handle. I grab the handle and turn it. Slowly it turns in a full, three-hundred sixty degrees, till it now facing the same direction. Just like that the door pops open.

I put on my mask and step in. One foot at a time feeling the water around the tank. It cold exterior till I'm used to it. Now I'm sitting just on the edge and I push myself over it. Fully submerged in the water I follow Thia's advice and go as low as I possibly can. Diving I notice that the hatch has now closed. Looking through the glass of the tank and the window I see them signaling for a thumbs up, I show one back and they start a count down.

Five, I slowly make my way to the bottom of the tank. Four, reaching the bottom I try sitting. Three, bubbles come from my mask, showing that the tank is working. Two, I sit in a cross cross way to try and keep my body still. One, another gasp of air and bubble come out again from my mask.

No more fingers.

I start feeling a small pressure building up in my chest. I dismiss it though because it was a small amount not enough to make me worry. After it started getting hot my body felt cold outside but inside the heat just kept rising. It now slowly started feeling like I was being cooked alive. My ears are now popping slowly then it starts speeding up. My breathing becomes erratic. Letting out a lot of air bubble around break into more air bubbles. Rising and increasing.

The heat becoming damn near unbearable. My body want to crawl out of here. It wants to get out of here my body is shaking it feels like it running out of breath I feel like I'm running out of breath. Again another large puff of air. Tears coming out of my eyes but I'm not supposed to feel water, underwater. I bring my hand to my face and wipe away air from my face. Air just came out of my eyes.

Getting scared my body want to run to leave. Again the heat rises. Feeling like I'm close to being cooked alive. I try swimming up but that just makes it worse my tank creaks. My hand now burning. I forcefully push myself back down. I hear a small hiss sound coming from my tank. Turning I see air rushing out fast from the tank. I move toward the glass. Trying to punch it, as I have once done. I signal the people for my tank but they are all focusing on the results of the chamber.

There it is again. But now so many times worse. My chest. It feels like it being crushed. My air is running out fast. I try signaling for them again and someone finally caught it. A scientist. Signals another to look at me and now they are all warning everyone. The heat getting so many times more unbearable and my chest makes me hurt.

A pain so bad. I want to pull my chest out. I want to pull out my chest and search for it. I want to do anything but this. My pain. My body. It hurts. It'd be better to kill me.

'Please anyone someone help I want to stop this pain!'

I remember thinking that everything doesn't matter anymore again. I want this to stop I try for another breath of air. Nothing. No air. Nothing. I feel like for that full second it was an hour of pure surprise. Where I didn't feel pain or anything that one second felt like bliss. Until the heat get even worse. My chest now hurting from no air. I take off the mask, the metal around the mouth part should be able to break it.

I hit the glass and it creates a crack small but hope now courses through my heat and pain ridden body. Again I hit it making the crack bigger. And again. I breath in the water around me and near faint. The water is hot so hot even hotter then when it was outside. It feels like soup right off the stove just entered my body.

I hit the glass again and again and again. Till finally my body can't and I just push against the glass softly.

I give up…

My chest hurts to much and my bodies on fire…

I'm dead this time for sure… they can't do anything or better yet they won't…

For the past five minutes they've been staring nonstop, not helping.

Once again I blink in and out of consciousness. I feel my body again slide now. Glass shard against my shoulder. Bleeding. Nothings clear. Everything goes black.

"Keith!! Wake up!"

I wake to hands slamming against the table and a feroious Ms. Rose.

'Damn I dozed off.'
