"What just happened?" Wang Tu opened his eyes.
He was resting atop a tree, waiting for Fu Ren to finish the massacre so they could leave the area.
Everything had been quiet and uneventful—until now.
He suddenly felt something strange, a subtle shift in the air that made him sit up slightly.
"Fu Ren?... Fu Ren? What's going on over there?" Wang Tu sent a message through the link.
No reply came.
Just silence.
His connection with Fu Ren was completely cut off, and without warning.
Wang Tu immediately felt threatened and adjusted his posture swiftly.
He began to sense his surroundings with greater precision than before.
In front of him stood Ray Kang, unmoving, the distance between them less than 150 meters. About 20 meters behind Ray Kang was his partner.
Beyond that, there was no one else in the vicinity—but even so, Wang Tu couldn't feel at ease.
A severed connection meant one of two things:
Either Fu Ren had moved out of range,
Or he was dead.
