Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: She's still missing

The market square, a place where people of Nirei town came to do their business of buying and selling. It was always filled with people everyday as there was people who wanted to buy or sell, and today was not an exception.

An elderly couple were walking around the market, looking for nothing in particular as they just branched around every stall they could, examining the goods they saw and buying the one's they fancied.

The elderly woman held a clear glass figurine that glistened beautifully in the sunlight. She thought it was the most beautiful thing she had seen since coming to the market and she would like to acquire this item if it was the last thing she did.

"Good eye, Madam." The shopkeeper called from the inside of his shop, he came out so he could speak with the couple. "It's an antique collector's item from the Central continent, it costs 1000 Ren but for you I'll sell for 800." He smiled, revealing his slightly brown set of teeth.

After the emergence of Deviants, the world fell into disarray, most of the world's governing system fell, the monetary system included. It took some time but the world finally worked together to rise above their challenges, creating new world systems. One of those systems included Ren, the universal currency system that all parts world used.

The old man frowned, the figurine was clearly not worth 800 Ren, but his wife looked like she was hell bent on getting it, there was nothing he could do as he handed over the money to the shopkeeper, he loved his wife too much to ever say no her.

The old woman smiled as she held her new precious Figurine in her hand, she loved it so much.

Suddenly a young man ran past her with so much speed that she accidentally dropped it on the floor, shattering it into a million pieces.

The old man and woman looked like they were about to run mad, The old man immediately looked at the merchant with pleading eyes, but he simply just waved the 800 Ren in the air as he walked backed into the shop. "Nice doing business with you." He laughed out.

And although they see didn't get a chance to see his face, the old couple cursed after the young man who didn't even turn back to apologize, the old woman cried for her lost possession, while the man cried for his lost money.

The young man was of course Wyatt, he didn't even notice the old couple as his mind was focused on something else. He frantically searched left and right, high and low, all without dropping speed. Then he finally stopped and began sniffing the air, putting his exceptional nose to good use.

Wyatt looked a little bit different from before, his muscles were more defined and were noticeably bigger than before. And although his general appearance was the same, he had seem to had gotten a little taller.

'Where Is it...' He thought as he sniffed for a few more seconds, before a familiar scent wafted into his nose, 'Gotcha.' he smiled as ran towards another part of town, following the scent he had been looking for.

It had been three months since he became a member of the dark bulls, In that he had gone through rigorous training with Craven almost every morning, each session slowly getting more intense than the last.

He had also gotten to know the town and it's people a little bit more, they were nice to him and treated him like one of their own, for the first time in his life he had somewhere he belonged, a place to call home.

He kept on following the scent arriving in yet another part of town, although he wasn't familiar with this district since he hadn't been here before. There were a group of boys who looked a bit older than him loitering around, He looked around for a bit before he spotted what he was looking for.

"Hey, you've found her." Wyatt smiled as he made his way to the center of the group of boys, there in the middle a boy with a scar on his chin was holding a ginger cat. "I've been looking for her everywhere, you're a life saver." He made to reach for the cat but was stopped by the surrounding guys.

"Take a look at hotshot here," One of the boys laughed as he and his friends circled around Wyatt. "I guess hanging around the dark bulls makes you brave enough to disrespect our boss." He jerked his head to the scarred man holding the cat.

"Oh, I didn't wanna disrespect him, I just want the cat back. You see, her owner-" The Man with the scar interrupted Wyatt with his loud laugh. He had laughed for so long that Wyatt nervously laughed along, but that earned him a scornful look from the 12 or so other boys, prompting him to stop immediately.

"Her owner? I am her owner." He roughly played with the clearly terrified cat, "Ain't that right, Ms Fluffernut Mcsnugglepants the third."

Wyatt fought with everything he had to hold back his laughter, Although it didn't go unnoticed by all the boys. They started to close in on him, while he was still trying with all his might to stifle his laugh.

"What's so funny, punk?" One of the boys roughly pushed him, he moved back a few steps causing all the boys to burst into laughter.

Wyatt calmly accessed the situation, there were about 13 boys including the so-called leader, he didn't know if they had talents and how powerful they were.

"Hey, whatcha looking at?" One of the boys got angry when he saw Wyatt looking around and decided to throw a punch.

Usually, whenever was attacked he would shut his eyes and prepare the hit to hit him, but this time Wyatt had a surprised expression on his face as he was only thinking one thing, 'So slow.'

It wasn't that the attacker was too slow, it was that Wyatt was so used to sparring with stronger opponents that he had subconsciously gotten used to their level, making anyone of a lesser caliber seem slow.

He ducked under the punch and delivered a punch of his own, knocking the attacker out cold. He smiled, this would be easier than he initially thought.

"One down, twelve more to go." He made his way to the man holding the with a wide grin on his face. He was really going to enjoy doing the bullying for once.

Wyatt walked out of the district without a single scratch on him and he also held the ginger cat in his hands , the poor creature could finally relax as he was in safer hands. Behind them were a dozen boys, badly beaten and groaning from the immense pain they all felt.

As Wyatt walked back he could see two elderly people crying in front of a store, the woman was bent over close to shattered glass, bawling her eyes. And somehow the elderly man looked even more miserable, crying to the heavens with all his might to bring misfortune upon someone.

'Wonder what happened to them.' Wyatt thought as he walked past them, they sure were many crazy people in the market today.

Shortly after Wyatt returned to the dark bulls' base, he went straight to Craven's office with the cat still in his arms. He was was about to knock on the door when he heard a loud voice.

"If that boy doesn't find my precious little baby, I'm taking one of your children back with me." The female voice was clearly furious.

"Calm down ma'am, I'm sure the kid will find yer baby for ya, so ya can stop yer frettin'" Craven tried to calm the person down but all to no avail, as she just kept raining threats and insults at the poor man.

Wyatt felt a little bad for Craven, after all it was his own the cat ran away in the first place, he had accidentally scared it away during training this morning, but he also felt like Craven deserved it since Craven threatened him with horrible, horrible things if he didn't find the cat. He still shuttered whenever he remembered the things Craven told him.

Wyatt let the woman chew Craven out a little more before letting himself in and handing the cat to her. The middle aged woman thanked Wyatt immensely before hugging her cat and gave Craven an annoying look. Craven gave Wyatt a look that screamed 'I knew you were there the whole time, asshole.' but he didn't say a single word.

They had let the woman hug and kiss her cat for a few more seconds before Craven got irritated and asked.

"So what's the important thing than yer needed to tell us earlier."Craven rubbed his eyes tiredly, this woman had drained him both mentally and physically.

"Oh,yes." She had initially came to tell him something important before they lost her cat. "It's about my niece, it's been a few months now and she's still missing."
