Chapter 141: Soul Empire
The monsters sent by the Monster Association were quickly suppressed by the superheroes of the Hero League.
"Damn it, the Hero League is stronger than I expected!"
Gyoro Gyoro couldn't help but reminisce about the old Hero Association.
Back then, the Hero Association wasn't this powerful. A mere Tiger-class monster could force several B-class heroes to mobilize just to take it down. But now, under the Hero League, Tiger-class monsters couldn't even cause a stir. Any random superhero sent out could handle them with ease.
Only Demon-class monsters could put up a fight—but just for a moment before being taken down.
This left Gyoro Gyoro with a pile of useless Tiger-class and Wolf-class monsters. There weren't even enough of them to serve as cannon fodder.
Yet, she was reluctant to send out Demon-class and Dragon-class monsters since they were her trump cards. Who would start a fight by throwing out their strongest hand?
At that moment, Gyoro Gyoro sensed a powerful presence approaching.
"What is that?"
She immediately sent out her "small eyes" to investigate.
"Hey! Is anyone here?!"
A massive, humanoid black stag beetle stood outside, shouting. Gyoro Gyoro sent some subordinates to communicate with the mysterious figure that looked just like a monster.
"My name is Titanium Stag Beetle. I'm a Dragon-class monster, and I'm here to join you."
Once brought inside, Titanium Stag Beetle spoke directly to Gyoro Gyoro, who was sitting on the ground.
"Dragon-class monster?"
Hearing the commotion, the other Dragon-class monsters came out to watch the scene unfold.
"That's right. If you don't believe me, you can test me."
Titanium Stag Beetle patted his chest confidently.
"No need. I can sense it."
Not only could she feel it, but Titanium Stag Beetle's aura was extremely strong. Even Monster King Orochi confirmed it.
"Our organization has developed a type of Super Monster Cell. It can transform those with potential into Demon-class or Dragon-class monsters and also enhance the power of existing monsters."
Titanium Stag Beetle then threw out several strange-looking objects.
"Super Monster Cells?"
Gyoro Gyoro used her psychokinesis to lift the objects and examine them. She quickly realized they weren't the monster cells she had distributed before.
"What organization are you from?"
Now, she was truly interested in the group behind Titanium Stag Beetle.
"We are the Monster League!"
Titanium Stag Beetle answered.
"Monster League?"
Gyoro Gyoro felt an odd sense of déjà vu. Just as she had founded the Monster Association in response to the Hero Association, was this Monster League created after seeing the Hero League?
"Our organization wants to cooperate with yours. We will provide you with Super Monster Cells. Aren't you planning to go against the Hero League? With these Super Monster Cells, you'll be able to take them on, right?"
Titanium Stag Beetle continued.
"Cooperation, huh? So, you're just offering these Super Monster Cells?"
Gyoro Gyoro wanted more than just the cells—she wanted the entire Monster League.
"Of course."
Titanium Stag Beetle responded righteously.
"Then I'll just capture you and extract everything about the Monster League from your brain!"
Suddenly, Monster King Orochi moved. His hair, like tentacles, shot out and wrapped around Titanium Stag Beetle.
"What?!"
Caught off guard, Titanium Stag Beetle was instantly devoured by Monster King Orochi.
"Well? What did you find, Orochi?"
Gyoro Gyoro asked.
"It was just a manufactured monster. It has no memories of the Monster League… But outside, it left behind a thousand Super Monster Cells."
Monster King Orochi paused before answering.
"What?"
Gyoro Gyoro was surprised by the outcome. The Monster League had anticipated that she would attack Titanium Stag Beetle?
How did they predict that?
Her mind was in turmoil.
Titanium Stag Beetle was, of course, a creation of Chang Wei. It was incredibly easy for Genus to manufacture a Dragon-class monster. As for those Super Monster Cells, they were merely a different form of the Super Cell solution.
Chang Wei wished for all humans in the world to become high-quality monsters. However, being too kind-hearted to do it himself, he found Gyoro Gyoro's willingness to act quite convenient.
So, why not let Gyoro Gyoro do the work and then eliminate the monsters afterward?
In the end, Gyoro Gyoro would still accept the Super Monster Cells because she desperately needed combat power.
Meanwhile, Chang Wei's focus wasn't on Gyoro Gyoro anymore.
He had found Dr. Bofoi, the mastermind behind Metal Knight, as well as Drive Knight and Dr. Kuseno, the scientist who modified Genos.
The One Punch Man world had an abundance of brilliant scientists, and Chang Wei had essentially "collected" them all.
In the River of Death, these scientists were gathered together, with their souls preserved for Chang Wei's use.
This meant that Chang Wei had an intelligence database at his disposal, even more convenient than advanced AI.
With that done, he felt relieved and dumped all the scientific knowledge from his memories onto them for research.
He had grown tired of struggling to process the vast amount of knowledge himself.
"Now that I think about it, my River of Death is way more useful than Alucard's," he mused.
In Alucard's River of Death, the souls couldn't retain their consciousness. In Seras Victoria's River of Death, they could. Chang Wei's version was different—his souls had first been assimilated by the Divine Light Virus, and after devouring Alucard, he had regained his River of Death ability. However, perhaps due to the initial assimilation, his River of Death had taken on a unique form.
This meant he could turn it into a true Soul Empire!
Finally, he had discovered the best way to use it.
He didn't need these souls to fight for him. His own power was already formidable—he was extremely difficult to kill. At minimum, an attack would need to disintegrate him at the molecular level and ensure not a single molecule escaped. Even then, if such an event did occur, his Stand Heaven's Creation could pause time and clone his cells.
On top of that, the River of Death stored revival coins, granting conceptual resurrection. As long as he didn't encounter an attack with a higher conceptual priority than the River of Death itself, he was essentially immortal.
So, what did he need?
He needed scientists from different worlds to research ways to manipulate atoms at a microscopic level!
That was far too difficult for him to achieve on his own. Who knew how long it would take him to break through that barrier?
