The members of Big Hero 6 continued their relentless efforts to rescue civilians and clear out the swarms of insects. However, their efforts did little to improve the situation.
Hiro glanced at his increasingly exhausted teammates. This wasn't working. Then, an idea struck him—his microbots. Though they had once been misused, they were still his creation. In times like this, they could be an invaluable asset.
"I need to go somewhere! Stay safe!" Hiro shouted over his shoulder, not waiting for a response as Baymax lifted him into the air, dodging incoming insect attacks. They soared toward an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city.
The factory was decrepit and long forgotten—hardly a place anyone would visit.
Pushing open the rusted doors, darkness swallowed the interior.
"Baymax, power up the lights."
"Understood, Hiro."
The moment the electricity surged through the circuits, the factory lit up in a cascade of flickering bulbs.
Hiro placed a neural headset on his head, pressing a button that ignited a faint blue glow.
A soft rustling sound followed. Dozens of sleek, black metallic rods poured out of a storage container, swarming toward his feet and lifting him into the air.
"Baymax, it's time to take down some bugs."
"Affirmative, Hiro."
Baymax's legs ignited with orange propulsion flames as Hiro's microbots carried him forward.
By the time he returned to his teammates, they were surrounded—wave after wave of insects diving at them in relentless assaults.
Hiro directed his microbots to form a massive iron fist. With a powerful swing, they smashed a hulking armored insect to the ground.
"Hiro! You still kept those things?" Go Go gasped.
These microbots had played a role in his brother's death. She never expected him to keep them.
"They're my invention," Hiro said, his voice firm. "They proved my potential to my brother. I won't run away from my past. I'll use them to protect people."
The battle raged on. The city was engulfed in smoke and chaos, and the insect horde only grew in numbers.
"Interesting…" Aboard a massive warship in orbit, two Brood generals observed the battlefield with keen interest. "This planet has warriors capable of resisting our swarm. Strange that we never noticed them before."
The entire Earth lay beneath the Brood's oppressive shadow, with only a few strongholds holding their ground: Doctor Doom's Latveria, New York City—defended by the Fantastic Four and Azeroth Tech Corporation, Washington—shielded by S.W.O.R.D, and Beijing, protected by the S.P.E.A.R. Bureau.
"We must intervene personally and finish this weak world," Kandoorn declared, unfolding his insectoid wings and hovering into the air.
"Hiro, look out!" Fred shouted as a new wave of insects descended, launching glowing blue energy spheres from their backs. The projectiles all zeroed in on Hiro's microbots.
It was clear—after eliminating so many Brood, they had drawn too much attention. Now, the enemy's elite forces were coming for them.
"Damn it! We're screwed!" Fred groaned.
Hiro's microbots shielded them from most of the attacks, but they were dwindling fast under the relentless barrage.
Just as despair set in, a massive spaceship streaked across the sky.
Whirrrr!
A half-sphere energy shield deployed above them, blocking the enemy's onslaught.
Then, a blinding beam of light fired from the ship, instantly clearing a massive swath of the battlefield.
Everyone paused, watching the ship descend. As the hatch opened, a familiar figure stepped out.
"Son! Get on board with your friends!"
"Dad?!" Fred gasped, stunned to see his father standing there. Even more shocking was the fact that he owned a spaceship.
"Mr. Uatu, your ship looks powerful. Can it take on the Brood?" Hiro asked hopefully.
Before Uatu could answer, an alarm blared inside the vessel:
Warning! Energy reserves critically low. Recommend disabling shields.
Uatu sighed, fiddling with the controls before shutting down the protective barrier.
"Now you understand. We've been running low on power for a while. That last attack used up most of our reserves."
"Dad, where are we going now?" Fred asked.
"To Azeroth Tech Corporation. We need to find Garus. I already tried seeking out Doctor Doom, but his country's automated defenses forced me out before I even stepped foot inside."
Uatu, as an Observer, possessed immense knowledge and technology dating back to the dawn of the universe. However, his species had one absolute rule—never interfere in the natural development of civilizations or provide them with advanced technology beyond their capabilities.
"Whoa, does this mean we're going to meet some superheroes?" Fred exclaimed excitedly.
"Fred!" The rest of the team quickly surrounded him, their expressions serious. Hiro lowered his voice. "Is there something you're not telling us? Who exactly is your dad? Why does he have a spaceship?"
"Son, go ahead. They deserve to know."
Fred exhaled deeply. "Alright… my dad is an Observer."
Seeing their confusion, he clarified, "Basically… an alien."
The team stared, momentarily speechless at the revelation.
"We've arrived." Their discussion was cut short as the ship hovered over New York.
Towering skyscrapers loomed ahead, and below them lay the mangled corpses of countless Brood.
"We're landing here."
Garus had taken most of Azeroth Tech's strongest fighters elsewhere, leaving only Kingpin, Emil Blonsky, and the company's security systems to defend the immediate area.
"Halt! Identify yourselves!" The security guards blocked their path. Refugees were being ushered inside, but the sight of the Big Hero 6 members in their unique outfits made the guards wary.
"I'm Uatu, a friend of Garus. Wilson Fisk should recognize me."
One of the guards spoke into a communicator. Moments later, he nodded and stepped aside.
"Wilson Fisk is waiting for you on Sublevel 10."
Following the flow of refugees, they entered the building and rode the elevator downward.
Ding!
The doors slid open, revealing a lavishly decorated room. At its center sat a massive, broad-shouldered middle-aged man, scowling at a computer screen.
Upon seeing them, Wilson Fisk—Kingpin—stood up.
"Uatu. What brings you here?"
"I need to know—where is Garus? These insects pose a far greater threat than you realize."
Although the Brood were unfamiliar to Uatu, he had recently discovered something disturbing. Among their ranks was a new breed—one capable of parasitizing and controlling human hosts…
