The massive lightning bolt flashed, crashing downwards. As if it were the very heavens were falling the pure power terminating from the simple bolt forced Ema into the ground.
As she held her head up, the bolt crashed directly onto her chest. This resulted in a soul-breaking screech that frankly broke Aphrodite's heart.
She desperately wanted to jump into the trial area to rescue her friend. But she couldn't as the annoying god beside her set the trial to only allow one person in each trial area.
At this point, all Aphrodite can do is watch helplessly as her friend is getting fried.
A massive gust of wind blew by, pushing away the smoke. As the remains of the mountain were blown to kingdom come, the picture of Ema was shown.
The moment the image was shown, Takemikazuchi heard a thud beside him. When he turned his head, he saw Aphrodite on her knees, staring into the screen with a horrified expression on her flawless face.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks as her dead, hollow eyes stared at Ema's pathetic figure.
Ema had a massive hole in her chest, parts of her right shoulder was disintegrated, while her chest had such a big hole that one can easily fit a soccer ball through it.
Lying on the ground, Ema was fighting desperately for her life. As her aura started to glow.
Though she looked dead, a light murmuring could be heard from the crater. Slowly as the aura grew the murmur became louder and louder.
Within a few seconds, a loud roar was heard. Ema's body was rapidly healing, the hole in her chest now shrinking, her shoulder was also regenerating, while her arm was starting to slowly reconstitute.
Ema used her power to create a Tachi blade from the earth. Power erupted from her remaining arm and forced the earth to compress.
As she was creating a weapon, another volley of lightning was now circling above her. As if mocking her efforts the bolt shot down, aiming for her head.
Ema clicked her tongue and propelled herself using her power. In the next instant just before the bolt fell to the ground, it changed angles and once again shot towards Ema.
The woman, now finished with buying time used her newly created Tachi to slash down the lightning bolt.
A loud explosion ensued as the Tachi and bolt met, the resulting explosion sent Ema tumbling back as though she was shot out of a howitzer.
But throughout her flight, the smile never left her face. She could feel it, her soul was slowly changing. The moment she collided her blade with the lightning she felt that she absorbed a little of the bolt's power.
She used her power to create a foothold in the air and once again shot towards where she was. As she made a mad dash forward, her Tachi was slowly being compressed.
The blade now had a crystalline lustre that would make any jeweller worth their salt drool in envy. Not even halfway towards the clash site, the same bolt of lightning was now rushing towards her.
The only difference between now and before was that the bolt seemed a tad bit weaker.
Not even a nanosecond later, the bolt and Ema clashed again. However, unlike last time Ema used her enhanced blade to perfectly slice through the bolt.
As she did she felt her soul being nourished. But unlike before where she would feel a slight enhancement. This time her body felt like it was erupting with power.
