She stared at me slowly closing her legs. I couldn't believe this. My wolf couldn't control himself around someone I rejected.
"Your wolf, it..." she trailed. I held her hands that minute.
"I couldn't help it." I seethed. "I'm sorry."
How exactly did my wolf sort of create a fire that was dangerous? He shouldn't have done that. Not to the same woman I kicked out and rejected.
All for the fact that he liked her scent. To be honest, this has never happened. Even in choosing ceremonies, no scent has made my wolf to ever go off board. He was able to control himself.
She shivered and her… legs.
What I wasn't sure of was how he slipped exactly. To some extent, he made me-
"Sorry?" she repeated after me. "I don't get it." she said fixing the last part of her gown. "You rejected me, threw me out, and yet, your wolf is still attracted to me. How exactly?"
"I do not understand." I said. She folded her hands with a confused look. "But I'll do something about it, I promise. I'll try to keep my wolf in check in future."
As I said those words I looked at her cheeks, they were rosy and flustered which I didn't blame her for after what happened.
"You'd better." she replied fastidiously. She sat up, straightening her back, staring at me like she wasn't just moaning in my arms moments ago. "I have to go." she said after she stood up.
"Wait." I voiced out making her pause. She didn't look back though.
"What?" she asked.
"You begin work as my assistant tomorrow. I'll ask my secretary to prepare your desk." I stated. She nodded walking out without saying a word.
…
"Welcome, Alpha." my Beta said.
I nodded at him asking. "Thanks, where is she?"
"She just got here. They are both downstairs."
"Alright thanks." I came early today because of this. Hopefully this worked.
As I approached entrance of the pack house, my Beta stood by my side giving a slight bow as I removed my shades, heading in.
"Welcome Maria," I said to the seer. The last time I saw her was about two and half years ago. Since then, we hadn't met in person.
"Thanks. Let's begin." she said directing her hands to my current mate, Olivia. "Give me your hands, my luna."
Olivia did as she said.
"And you too, my alpha." she added.
"Oh sure." I gave her my hands and she held it chanting some words. It took a moment before she opened her eyes which were covered in white.
That instant the room began to darken. A sort of energy occupied the room and some vast wind came through the windows.
Tears came out of Maria's eyes and it was of crystal color. Suddenly, her eyes were filled with an entranced look.
"You seek peace but you gave her none. You want an heir but you'll get none. Till you redo what you did, you'll not get what you seek."
She commenced chanting once more trembling and whimpered. Her wolf howled with me wondering what this was about.
"The woman you offended in the past." The pack seer, Maria continued. "Find her. She's the beginning and end of your problems."
I stared at the crystal tears which rolled down her cheek with so much wonder.
Olivia whimpered with a pained expression saying, "Won't I be able to get the child I want?"
"You won't. You're destined to be like this." Maria whispered before closing her eyes. Her grip on us loosened. I pulled my hands and so did Olivia. A moment after the pack healer opened her eyes.
"You dare to insult your luna, who do you think you are?" Olivia asked her immediately fuming.
Maria had her brows furrowed in confusion as she said, "I'm sorry but I can't remember any of what happened, luna. Once my body is possessed by the seer's spirit, I have no idea of what is happening."
This had happened in the past. Whenever we asked Maria to help with some pack problems she spoke in authority.
"Oh right." Olivia said turning to me. "Where do we go from here?" Olivia asked running her hands through her blonde hair. From her over straightening them, they thinned out already.
"I'll take care of it, don't worry." I said, dismissively so she didn't end up becoming desperate like she did in the past.
To the world, we were a power couple. But in truth, we were far from that. We were not working. The media was a blatant lie.
The bond between us was weird. I thought Olivia was the one, the first time I saw her.
But one day, it seemed like everything just snapped. And then, I found myself regretting my actions. I reached out to the raven-haired fairy who truly loved me but I couldn't find her.
I tried looking for her, but she remained untraceable. That meant I had to accept reality and I started doing so trying to make something out of it.
On realizing Olivia was mischievous, plotting to drug me to get me to sleep with her to bear my pup, I stopped trusting her. Even though my heart said otherwise, I knew what my wolf wanted. I made sure not to bed her because it didn't seem right.
"I'll find the guardian wolf myself." I said firmly once more. It was only for the good of the pack.
"How do you intend to do so?" she said. I watched the pack seer bow down, excusing herself. I waved to her as she went.
"I'll have someone investigate. You do not have to worry about a single thing," I told her, knowing she was going to try to harm Nova.
Olivia was an apex predator. She'd claw her way into anything that was out of her reach. Even if it meant putting lives at stake, she was going to do that.
"Fine Jared." she held her belly saying. "Just do what you have to do, the shame of not having an heir is too much for me to bear."
"I'll be quick, as we wait for the result of that night."
To make her believe we had sex I had her drink the wine she drugged, letting her sleep in my bed till the next morning. I wanted her to think we already slept together in those five years of trying to get me to bed her.
