Liliana looked like she had more to say. Her lips parted and her eyes shadowed with concern, but the words never came. Something about the peace in Olivia's face, or maybe the gentleness in Damon's eyes, stopped her. She hesitated for a moment longer, then gave a small nod and turned toward the door.
"I will start writing the list," she murmured in a low voice. "You two should rest."
And with that, she slipped out, the door closing softly behind her.
The silence that followed was warm as Olivia smiled at him. Damon took a step forward, then another, until he was standing right in front of Olivia. His hand reached out, brushing her hair back from her cheek with the lightest touch.
She looked up at him, a little surprised by the tenderness in his eyes.
"Did Liliana's words disturb you?" he asked gently.
