Emerald sighed dramatically, her head drooping. "Be honest—are you nervous?"
"Not really. You underestimate your man. If I can't handle something this small, how could I even think of marrying you?"
Alaric playfully tapped her nose. "Teacher Greene, are you really ready to be with me? My life might not be as simple as you imagine."
Emerald held up three fingers, her face serious. "I won't let you go. Not even if I die. I swear."
Alaric let out a soft chuckle, taking her hand and placing it over his heart. "That's enough, baby. No matter what happens, even if the sky falls, don't ever let me go."
Resting her head against his shoulder, Emerald murmured, "Okay."
"It's normal for a man to have some pressure. You don't need to worry about me. If I can't even handle this, how could I be a good husband to you in the future? How could I take care of our children?"
