Jason Liu turned to Lin Xiaohan and Jiang Chuchu and said, handle negotiations with the High-tech Zone Management Committee. First, find out the rent and selling prices for the land next to the warehouse."
Although it seemed a little strange that the newly built warehouse was already not enough, nobody dared to question the boss's decision out loud.
They both nodded in agreement.
Lin Xiaohan and Jiang Chuchu figured Jason probably had bigger plans behind the scenes. Maybe business was expanding fast, and they needed more space. So, without hesitation, they agreed to look into buying land and building a larger warehouse.
Since they were now in charge of the task, neither of them had any complaints. After all, they had experience managing Iron Wood Timber Industry in the past. This was nothing new.
They continued the meeting, discussing work plans for the coming month. Jason made it clear that the sales department needed to work closely with Ironwood Timber to ensure smooth cooperation.
From now on, all wood sales would be managed under Fusion Trading, and the sales staff from Ironwood Timber would be absorbed into Fusion's Sales Department.
This news made Jiang Chuchu quite happy—it meant she'd have more people reporting to her.
Once the meeting ended, Jason Liu returned to his office to tackle a huge pile of paperwork that had been building up. It took him the entire morning just to sign everything.
When lunchtime rolled around, he and Lin Xiaohan went out to eat together.
Jiang Chuchu, on the other hand, didn't want to disturb the newly formed couple. She headed to a nearby staff canteen in the High-tech Zone with a few female coworkers.
This canteen was built right next to the office buildings to serve employees working in the area. It was a convenient place where staff could grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food tasted decent, and the prices were reasonable.
Because of its convenience, many nearby office workers chose to eat there. Business at the canteen was booming.
Let's face it—most modern young people don't want to cook after a long day at work. If they have any free time, they'd rather scroll on their phones and relax than spend time preparing meals. The 996 work culture is exhausting enough!
While having lunch, Jason casually told Lin Xiaohan about his upcoming trip.
"I'm going home in two days. It's the Mid-Autumn Festival, and my mom asked me to visit. I'll leave the company to you for now," he said, taking a sip of his drink.
They had chosen a nice little restaurant close by—not too fancy, but cozy enough.
"You're going back to village…" Lin Xiaohan murmured as she nodded. After a pause, her cheeks turned slightly red, and she asked shyly, "So... should I come with you?"
Jason was caught off guard. He hadn't expected things to move this fast with Lin Xiaohan. His family didn't even know he had a girlfriend yet.
Instinctively, he started to say, "You don't have to come—"
But then he saw Lin Xiaohan pouting and glaring at him as if he had just said the wrong thing.
Jason quickly changed his tone, coughing awkwardly and grinning. "Cough, cough… it's up to you! I'm fine with whatever you decide."
Satisfied, Lin Xiaohan smiled sweetly.
Humph, that's more like it!
She thought, Why didn't you ask for my opinion before saying I shouldn't come? Do you not want me to meet your family or something?
Could it be that you're embarrassed to bring me home? Or maybe… you've got something else going on behind my back?
Of course, Lin Xiaohan figured that Jason—this slightly clueless guy who was single all through college and even two years afterward—definitely wouldn't find a girlfriend more beautiful than her. So, she wasn't too worried.
But if she had known that Jason had recently spent a few days with a girl named Qiqi, who might actually be more stunning than her, she might not have been so confident in him…
Anyway, for now, she had no idea that her boyfriend had gone off with another girl behind her back. She was still thinking about whether or not she should follow him home and meet his family.
After all, Jason had already met her parents. Logically, she should return the gesture and visit his home too.
But the thought of traveling 300 kilometers to visit her boyfriend's family—especially after just officially becoming a couple the day before—made her feel shy and unsure.
Was it too soon?
Eventually, she looked at Jason with a pout and said, "Jason Liu, do I have to go this time? I feel so nervous! What if I mess up and make a bad impression?"
Jason looked at her, confused by her mixed signals. Did she want to go or not? Should he say yes or no?
He couldn't figure her out, so he played it safe. "Don't worry," he said with a gentle smile. "Whatever you decide, I'll support you."
Whew, he thought to himself. If I'd said, 'Okay, don't go,' and she got upset, that would've been a disaster.
Man… girlfriends are so hard to read!
Luckily, Lin Xiaohan beamed at his answer. "Heehee, thanks for understanding!"
"So?" Jason asked, "Are you coming or not?"
She paused with her chopsticks halfway to her mouth, furrowed her brows, and hesitated.
Jason's eye twitched as he watched her struggle with the decision.
Finally, she said, "I won't go this time. I'll visit your parents another day when I'm more prepared."
Jason breathed a sigh of relief. Honestly, he wasn't ready to introduce her to his family either.
He was especially worried that once his mom met Lin Xiaohan, she'd immediately start pushing for marriage and babies. He wasn't sure if Lin could handle that kind of pressure just yet.
This way was better—he could go home alone, casually mention that he had a girlfriend, and give his mom some time to process the news.
That way, next time Lin came over, his mom wouldn't be too overexcited and scare her off.
After clearing that up, the couple finished lunch and took a stroll through a small park nearby. They held hands and chatted about random things. The mood was peaceful and sweet.
As for romantic talk… well, Jason wasn't very good at that. It was mostly Lin Xiaohan doing the talking, while he nodded and responded with, "Mm-hmm… yeah… I see…"
But that didn't matter. What mattered was that they enjoyed this little slice of happiness together.
