Just as Dave was about to lie back again and fully relax, the sky above them suddenly cracked open with a burst of rainbow-colored energy — the unmistakable flash of the Bifrost.
BOOM!
A tremendous gust of wind blew across the hilltop as a massive, golden figure dropped into the middle of their picnic, sending plates and snacks flying.
"By the All-Father's beard, Dave!" Thor's booming voice echoed across the field.
Everyone stared in shock as Thor, clad in slightly battered Asgardian armor, his cape torn and his usually immaculate hair in wild disarray, marched up to Dave with an urgent, frantic look on his face.
"Thor?" Dave blinked, getting to his feet while dusting crumbs off himself. "Man, you just ruined the best picnic I've had in years."
"No time for your mortal leisure!" Thor said, panting heavily as he grabbed Dave's shoulders. "I need you — desperately. My Girlfriend is in Danger!"
Diana, Boa, Trish, and Emma immediately looked at him wondering when this guy got an girlfriend.
"Girlfriend?" Dave asked, eyes narrowing. "Since when? No no, more importantly what happened to her?"
Thor extended his hand desperately. "Come with me, Dave. She is in Asgard and she needs your magic!"
For a brief moment, Dave hesitated, glancing back at his girlfriends, at the quiet picnic they had tried so hard to enjoy. Boa gave him a small nod. Diana smiled softly, her eyes full of understanding.
"You go save the damsel," Diana said. "We'll hold the fort here."
Dave grinned. "You all make it too easy."
Without another word, he grasped Thor's forearm in a warrior's handshake.
"Let's go, Thunder Boy."
Thor roared in laughter — exhausted but relieved — and raised Mjolnir high. Another beam of Bifrost energy shot down, engulfing them in a swirl of light as they vanished into the heavens.
The girls stood there, watching the spot where they had disappeared.
"Well," Boa said, picking up a fallen sandwich, "there goes our peaceful day."
Diana chuckled. "He'll be fine. He always is."
Emma grinned, lying back down. "Place your bets. How many gods will he beat up before he gets back?"
Trish smirked. "I'm going with five."
They laughed, settling back into the sunset, knowing Dave's adventures were far from over.
The Bifrost spit Dave and Thor out high above the golden spires of Asgard, the city gleaming under a shimmering aurora sky.
"Let's go, she's in the medical bay," Thor said as he grabbed him and, swinging his axe, dragged him toward the medical bay.
Dave didn't say anything as he followed.
Soon, they reached the medical bay where Jane lay, with Thor's mother, Frigga, by her side. Jane was lying on a bed, and other Asgardians were tending to her.
"Hello, Aunt Frigga, how are you?" Dave said as Frigga came to him, hugging him. "I'm fine, my child. How are you?" she asked.
"I'm fine too," Dave replied.
"Let's take a seat and talk now," she said after excusing herself from the others.
"Have you figured out what happened to her?" he asked as Frigga nodded.
"Yes, it seems she has something inside her," Frigga said as she glanced at Jane. "It hasn't fully bonded with her, but it's inside her," she explained, and Dave nodded in understanding.
"Let me check," Dave said as his hand hovered over Jane. As he sensed it, he frowned. "Hmm, it's an Infinity Stone, but sealed," Dave said, and Frigga and Thor looked at Jane in surprise.
"Infinity Stone?" Frigga asked, looking down at Jane. "She's is someone special if she's able to bond with the Infinity Stone, even if its not an complete bond, though it also explains why she's in a coma. A mortal human like her can't withstand the powerful energy of an Infinity Stone, even if it were sealed," she explained.
Dave nodded. "Well, I'm taking it out," he said, his voice firm as he prepared to remove the stone.
"Hmm, go ahead," Frigga said, watching closely as Dave's hand hovered above Jane. He began to use his powers to extract the stone from her body.
Dave's hand even transformed into his Devil Trigger form as he focused on removing the dangerous stone, channeling more dark power to safely extract it without harming Jane further.
Dave's focus sharpened as the stone began to slowly rise from Jane's chest, glowing with an eerie light. The room seemed to grow colder as he tapped deeper into his Devil Trigger, his aura darkening around him, crackling with raw energy.
"Hold steady," Dave muttered, sweat starting to bead on his forehead as the power of the stone fought against him. The Infinity Stone wasn't easily removed, its energy resisting his grasp.
Thor and Frigga stood by, their eyes fixed on the process, concern etched on their faces. Thor gripped his hammer, ready to act if anything went wrong. Frigga watched in silence, her gaze full of wisdom and worry.
With a final surge of energy, Dave clenched his fist, and the stone flew free from Jane's chest, hovering above his palm. Its glow flickered, fading into an unsettling calm.
Dave exhaled, the tension in the room easing, but his body still trembled slightly from the strain. "It's done," he said, looking down at the stone in his hand.
Frigga moved closer, her eyes narrowing as she studied the stone. "This is a dangerous artifact, even sealed. It's a good thing you could remove it, but what now?"
"Don't worry, I'm taking it," Dave said, though it looked like a stone because it was compressed and bound by his power. In reality, it was in a constant state between gas and liquid, shifting and unstable. Right now, it's not the Reality Infinity Stone, but rather the Aether.
"Hmm, I have to remove the Dark Elves' magic that has changed it from the Reality Stone to a Dark Matter and Dark Force generator stone," Dave mumbled as he looked at it.
"If it were anyone else, I would not have allowed it," Frigga said as she glanced at him. "But if it's you, Dave, then I don't mind." She smiled as Dave nodded in acknowledgment.
"Speaking of which, your sword was ready. It was delivered just yesterday. Thor was going to give it to you when suddenly he found Jane in this state," she added as a few Asgardian guards entered, carrying a long sword. The blade had three grooves on each side of the hilt and a silver edge.
"It's been forged greatly," Dave said as he nodded, recognizing the weapon.
