"Done," Noah extended his hand and pulled two small metal spheres from the portal.
"Only you can do that," Banner remarked, looking with relief at the gamma radiation readings on the scanner, which had dropped to minimal levels. After a long period of exhaustion, his face finally showed some signs of life.
Noah attached the two spheres to his belt. As soon as they made contact, their surfaces began to smoothly flow into the belt, like grains of sand in an hourglass, and soon they disappeared completely. These devices, designed to create a mist that neutralized gamma radiation, were developed by Lissandra on Noah's instructions, and then he used the nanobots built into his belt to create them. For Lissandra, it was a matter of minutes.
"Indeed, Dr. Banner, the radiation issue is resolved, so I think it's time for you to rest," Noah looked closely at the scientist's exhausted face.
Banner had first fought as the Hulk, then spent the entire night conducting experiments, and now looked as if he was on the verge of collapse. Noah even feared that if he didn't sleep, another ghost, this one perished from overwork, would soon appear on the island.
"Rest? But..." Banner glanced at the tunnels, which continued to expand underground, and his face showed hesitation.
Samuel Sterns was the one he wanted to eliminate as soon as possible. He didn't want another person like General Ross, craving the Hulk's power, to appear. But Sterns was much more dangerous and cunning. After all, this man had already sent an army of mutants to kill him, and who knew what he would come up with if given more time.
"Don't worry about Sterns. Last night, I dealt a significant blow to his plans. I think he won't be able to lift his head for a while," Noah, understanding his thoughts, tapped his own head.
"What? You've already encountered him?" Banner looked up in surprise, then remembered. "You mean the time when Sterns possessed the bird using his abilities?"
"Exactly. I taught him a lesson then. He's unlikely to risk using his mental power that way again."
After these words, Bruce finally relaxed a little. Noah mentioned using magic to track Sterns, and Banner thought that perhaps, upon waking up, Noah would already have a solution.
The exhausted scientist returned to his room and instantly fell asleep on the soft mattress he had longed for.
When Banner went to rest, Noah sat down on a chair and opened the mission panel.
[Mission complete. Summoner receives 300 essence.]
"A pleasant surprise! 300 essence!" Noah said in surprise.
Before starting the decontamination process, he remembered that he hadn't completed his daily missions. He wondered if this task would also count. Opening the panel, he saw that a mission related to radiation had indeed appeared. Although it was only C-rank, it was still better than nothing.
After completing the mission, the reward exceeded his expectations – 300 essence units, even though he thought a C-rank mission wouldn't give more than 200.
"300 today, 800 yesterday… Let's see how much I have in total," he switched to his inventory to check how close he was to the next ten-summoning milestone.
"4800 essence. Not much longer. Even if I don't find the Leader, I can even, earning 10 essence at a time, accumulate 6000 in 12 days," he thought with satisfaction, calculating his progress.
Meanwhile, the search robots finished mapping the underground tunnels. Ideally, old sewer systems shouldn't be so extensive, but judging by the schematics, the tunnels connected to others, expanding the search area.
"Perhaps I should visit Kamar-Taj. I wonder if Dieter found the tracking spell I need," Noah thought. Last night, he had asked the Kamar-Taj librarian, Dieter, to help him find a tracking spell. He still had a fragment of the Leader's soul, and he hoped Dieter had already found a solution.
A blue portal slowly opened before him.
The aroma of ancient ink immediately hit him. Noah was surprised, as many books in the library clearly weren't written with ink. Perhaps this smell was a reflection of the time that had passed within the library's walls, lingering among the pages.
Stepping onto the brown wooden floor, he didn't hear the usual creaking often emitted by old floorboards. Probably, the Kamar-Taj mages maintained it well. He walked along the neat rows of wooden shelves filled with ancient books, holding knowledge of magic.
Although Kamar-Taj had internet access, this place hadn't fully embraced modernization. Oil lamps illuminated the library. While it was daytime in America, night had already fallen here, and the flickering light of the oil lamps filled the library's silence with a mysterious and cozy atmosphere.
The space within this library clearly didn't correspond to its external appearance. It seemed that the people who built it used some kind of spatial spell. Noah walked a short distance and found himself in the hall where the librarian was already waiting for him. Dieter sat in his usual place, with several thick, ancient books beside him.
"Noah, you've come," Dieter smiled when he sensed someone approaching and saw the familiar face.
"Good evening, Dieter. Are these the books I was looking for?" Noah greeted him and looked at the stack of ancient tomes.
