"Talking"
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now, the boss rush begins.
Gray stared at the rapidly approaching planet of Hom, taking in the dark, dirt brown color of the planet.
But, honestly, I'm not really looking forward to this one.
Of the six planets Gray and his squad would have to fight through, Hom was one of the least appealing ones, at least based on the briefing the Hero Association had given them.
A dirty shithole full of magic users.
As the closest planet to Harro, Hom had once been like something of a colony to Harro. Though saying 'colony' was being generous, as it was more like a place criminals were sent to and where low-income civilans moved for work. Essentially, it was a slum-like planet that barely had a government.
That was before the appearance of mages, who considered themselves 'blessed' by a higher being with power. The Homian government had fallen apart, and the planet had become home to primarily monsters, except for a small mage-filled city.
A mage-filled city that's a fuckin' shithole.
While the city was the only non-monster inhabited area, it still wasn't the prettiest, or cleanest, of places.
"I can't believe I'm actually here…" The voice in Gray's pod came from the non-official member of Gray's squad, as Fubuki sighed as she slumped back, leaning into his chest as she blushed, "A-And this ship is so tiny! How do you guys travel everywhere in these?!"
"Get used to it," Gray just shrugged, smirking down at the girl, "As my gravity chamber, you'll have to travel around with me."
"Stop calling me that," Fubuki bit back, sounding a bit annoyed, "If it's in a ship this small, I'm not going anywhere with you!"
"Well, you're rooming with me," Gray said dryly at her words, "I'm a pretty big guy, so there's less room. It's usually not this bad."
'A pretty big guy' was putting it lightly, as Gray's large frame, tall body, and muscular physique meant he was huge.
"I should've shared with that little blonde girl," Fubuki huffed, referring to Asia, "Why do I even have to share with you anyway?"
"The Hero Associations technology is lacking. It would've taken you twice as long to get here if you used one of their ships," Gray explained easily, struggling to keep his eyes up as Fubuki shifted in place, rubbing her thick ass into his crotch in the process, "As for sharing with me, you didn't have to."
"I-I didn't?" Fubuki seemed to blush even deeper, suddenly finding the surface of Hom very interesting as she stared hard into the glass.
"I just said you'd have to share a pod with someone," Gray deadpanned, "You're the one who followed me into mine."
Gray had assumed that the woman would choose to share with one of his female squad members, and one of the smaller ones like Asia or Celia, but Fubuki hadn't even brought it up. After the Hero Association had agreed that Fubuki should accompany Gray's squad - which Gray had insisted upon, because he wasn't leaving his portable gravity chamber with tits behind - the woman had just followed Gray into his pod and sat on his lap.
"I-I just wasn't paying attention!" Fubuki huffed, still not looking back at Gray, "D-Don't think for a moment that I think you're attractive, okay?"
I didn't bring that up, but you did.
Gray let her off the hook and didn't say anything.
A minute later, Gray's Saiyan pod finally slammed into the ground, shaking as a crater formed from the impact. The trip had only actually taken roughly two hours, but Gray was already feeling cramped from the pod.
"Yeah, definitely a shithole," Gray sighed as he stepped out of the pod, glancing around. It was as if the planet was made to be dirty - the surface was covered in dirt, the clouds in the sky were brown, and even a nearby lake in Gray's eyesight was a nasty color.
"That's Hom for you," Fubuki just nodded, glancing around the planet. With her rather nice-looking dress and beaded necklace hanging around her neck, she definitely looked out of place.
He waited as the rest of the Saiyan pods around him slammed down, announcing the arrival of his squad. The first was Tamari, who wrinkled her nose as she glanced around the planet.
"W-We won't have to be here for long, right?" After her was Asia, and even the angelic girl couldn't hold back her displeasure as she gave Gray a strained smile.
"I hope not," Gray nodded. The plan was to take down one of the six planets every day and take advantage of their Ozaru's.
Neither Gray's squad nor the Hero Association knew how connected the other planets actually were, so taking down each planet in one go before they could communicate with the other ones was ideal.
The rest of the squad started to arrive, consisting of the entirety of Gray's usual squad, along with Caulifla, Kale, Cabba, and one outlier in the form of an S-Class hero.
"You didn't die of old age on the trip over, old guy?" Gray hummed casually as Silver Fang, also known as Bang, crawled out of a Saiyan pod. He had shared with Cabba, as despite not being the shortest of the group, Cabba might've been the skinniest.
"Not yet," Bang merely chuckled.
The S-Class hero had been sent with Gray's squad on his own request, as Bang had said something about needing to go to one of the farther planets to find his 'student.'
As the rest of the squad arrived and gathered in a circle, Celia took the lead.
"The only city is pretty big," She started, "And there isn't much known about the 'mages.' We, and by we I mean Gray, should scout ahead first, and then come regroup with the rest of us. Then, we can create a more detailed plan to take down the leader, whose name is…"
Celia held up a piece of paper blandly, which had the picture of a-
"Homeless man?" Gray blinked, and it wasn't just the image that he was basing it on. Above the picture, large letters were spelling out 'Homeless Emperor.'
The man had a rather unkept looking image, with long, messy hair, an unshaven face, and some scars and acne covering his otherwise normal-looking face.
"That's what they call him," Celia nodded dryly, "He's a 'Dragon' level threat."
"That means he's strong enough to endanger multiple cities," Fubuki supplied helpfully, "The protocol for taking one down is multiple S-Class heroes, with at least 20 A-Class heroes for support."
"And that's the only guy we need to kill?" Gray raised an eyebrow at Celia, who nodded in response.
"The rest of the mages seem like… fodder, at least from what I can sense." Celia gave up on saying it nicely, just shrugging, "Aside from a few, we'll likely just have to clean them up afterward."
"Alright, then I'll just blow it up," Gray nodded, promptly turning around as he looked in the direction the city was in.
"Y-You're going to blow up the city?" Fubuki stuttered out, staring at his back.
"Yeah, why not?" Gray just shrugged, "If this 'emperor' of homeless people guy dies, then he dies. If he lives, then I'll kick his ass."
"You can't," Celia shook her head lightly at his plan. "Well, you can, but since you want to work with the Hero Association and keep them around as allies, it wouldn't be the wisest. There's an S-Class hero stationed here that they can't contact."
"So, if I blow up the city, I'll blow up him," Gray sighed in annoyance, "I wish I was more of a dumbass sometimes."
If Gray had said 'fuck it' and decided not to gather allies against Frieza, and gone the Saiyan way of betting on himself to take on everyone alone, then things would get done much quicker.
"Actually, you can still go with your plan," Bang shook his head at Celia's words, causing Gray ot look at him curiously, "The hero stationed here is Zombieman."
Zombieman?
"So… is he, like, a zombie?" Gray asked dryly.
"Exactly," Fubuki answered this time, nodding at him, "He's immortal."
Gray's eyes widened slightly at the word.
Like, immortal immortal? Or 'won't die of old age' immortal?
"He can't die?" Gray asked bluntly. If there were someone with the Dragon Ball wish version of immortality, which meant they couldn't die from anything, including attacks and not just old age, then that was a pretty big deal.
He could be an actually dangerous opponent, even if his power level isn't that high, but…
He would also be a nice ally to have. If he were even a little bit tough, then he would be a never-dying meatshield, or could distract a major player - like Zarbon or Dodoria - forever.
"Yes, that's why he's 'Zombieman,'" Fubuki nodded at his words, "Even if you blow up the whole city, he won't die. Right, Silver Fang?"
"Almost," Bang shook his head lightly at her words, "I've seen him regenerate from even just his head, but he needs some portion of his body to remain. If you destroy him completely, then he'll truly die."
So, he's more like Cell or Buu immortal than actually immortal.
There was a big difference between having an insane level of regeneration and being completely immortal.
"Way to get my hopes up," Gray sighed, deflating again at the idea of having to waste time combing through the city to find Zombieman.
I still want someone like him as an ally, so I won't just destroy the city anyway.
"That doesn't mean you can't go with your plan," Bang shook his head again, causing Gray's excitement to yo-yo back up again. "Zombieman has a supernatural level of endurance. He's defeated monsters by letting them hit him until they died of exhaustion. As long as you don't go all out, he won't die."
That's kind of badass.
"Alright, then I'll blow up the city before we transform," Gray nodded, glancing at Celia, "How long until the moon is in view of the city?"
There was a group of 'moons' which rotated around the coalition, which meant that every planet they visited would be in view of one at some point.
"About half an hour," Celia answered casually, somehow knowing without even glancing up at the sky, "But you shouldn't be the one to blow it up."
Gray blinked at her, "Huh?"
"You're strong," Celia said bluntly, "Obviously. Even if Silver Fang thinks the hero will survive, if it's you who does it… I doubt they will."
That's… actually fair.
"Right! So I'll do it!" Caulifla grinned, stretching her arms out.
"Obviously not," Celia deadpanned, "You're just as strong."
"You do it, Celia," Gray decided before Caulifla could argue back, "You have the best control."
She never fucks anything up. And, if she does, then I can tease her about it.
Celia nodded, and the group quickly shot into the sky - well, the group minus Fubuki, who Gray had to carry, and Bang, who got a piggyback ride from Raditz. They flew towards the large collection of energy signatures, which were much more clumped up than the spread-out monster ones in every other direction. As they approached the city, Gray silently lamented on his decision to let Celia do the dirty work.
Fuck. That's at least a couple thousand people.
The energy signatures he could sense were easily in the thousands, possibly even reaching the tens of thousands.
I'm missing out on a lot of XP and coins. This zombie guy better be worth it.
Missing out on a couple million XP wasn't all that bad if Zombieman turned out to be a seriously strong ally, but Gray would be pissed if he was a pushover.
Even if it is a weaker version of immortality, he should still be useful.
Gray quickly spotted the city, taking in the-
Absolute shithole.
Gray's initial impression of Hom's city remained unchanged as they flew closer, the buildings looking like they were made from the planet's brown dirt themselves, and the air thick with a mix of smog and dust. The buildings looked like they were about to crumble from age and neglect, and the few streets he could see weren't paved, instead just being dirt roads. To Gray's side, even Fasha was wrinkling her nose in disgust.
"Do it quick," She grunted at Celia, "Honestly, you'll be doing the people a favor. I'd rather die than live here."
"It's not that bad," Caulifla tried, but Fasha just looked at her blandly.
Celia didn't waste any more time, simply raising her hand into the air as they floated far above the city. She floated higher, separating herself from the rest of the squad. A small ball of Ki formed on her palm, which then continued to expand in size, growing bigger and bigger by the second.
She's gotten a lot stronger.
Celia had always been a Ki-centric fighter, and her Ki attacks were always skilled and powerful, but the ball of Ki she was forming now was seriously impressive. The filthy air around them seemed to be pulled into it, distorting slightly as it sparked and grew bigger. It grew to easily the size of a house, then even larger, as the ball towered over Celia's thin frame.
"W-What the hell…" Fubuki muttered, staring with wide eyes at the massive ball of light, "Can you all do that?!"
"Duh," Caulifla smirked, while Tamari was staring at her with a 'I definitely can't do that' look, "That's a small one, too."
"This is enough," Celia stated matter-of-factly, then flicked her wrist. The massive ball of Ki streamed toward the city below, intent on turning the rundown city into a massive crater.
However, it never reached the ground. Suddenly, from deep within the city below, a beam of light shot upward. It was a small one, looking like a piece of string compared to Celia's massive ball of power. It didn't stand a chance, and Celia's massive ball of Ki continued to push downward toward the city, but then another one joined it.
Slowly, hundreds of small Ki-beams, looking like ants trying to hold back the sun, joined it. Celia's ball didn't stop, but it started to become slower in its descent. The green-haired woman's face twisted in annoyance, and she pushed her arm forward as she forced the ball to overpower the beams. It started to descend quicker again, but suddenly, from the far back of the city, a much larger beam of ki blasted forward.
There's someone decent here. That must be the 'emperor' guy.
It was a dark blue color and far exceeded the size of any of the other beams. It was nearly the size of the Ki-ball Celia had built up, and it slammed into the massive orb with a force that stalled out Celia's attack. For a moment, the entire sky was lit by the clash of Ki.
Then, the blue beam started to push back Celia's. Celia grunted as she shoved her hands forward again, funneling more Ki into her attack as her brow creased. Despite her strained expression and genuine effort, the massive Ki beam combined with all the smaller ones continued to push the ball of Ki back. Her attack was quickly shoved back into the sky, the momentum shifting as Celia's own attack streamed back toward her.
Gray finally took action as Celia didn't back down, trying to shove back her own attack as it threatened to consume her. He appeared next to her in an instant with [Instant Transmission], placed a hand on her shoulder, and then appeared back next to his squad with her.
"That was careless," He hummed, taking his hand off Celia's shoulder as she panted slightly, her eyes glaring lightly down at the city. If he hadn't helped her, the woman looked like she would've continued fighting until her own attack seriously injured her.
In response, Celia just huffed, looking annoyed as her ball of Ki was shoved back, being flung far into the sky and eventually into the space surrounding Hom.
She's still a Saiyan.
Even if Celia didn't act very Saiyan-like, and was definitely far smarter than most Saiyans, she still had her pride - which was clearly bruised as she lost at her specialty, Ki-attacks, to the lowly 'mages' on the shithole that was Hom.
"How long until the moon is in view?" Gray hummed as dots started to float upward from the city below, thousands of human-like figures scattering across the sky as they all looked towards Gray's group.
"...Around twenty minutes," Celia said monotonely, clearly still annoyed.
"Good," Gray nodded as he narrowed his eyes, locking in on a figure amongst the thousands rising upward. He had messy hair on both his head and face, was wearing a dirty T-shirt and pants, and had a ripped-up rag tied up around his neck like a cape.
That must be 'Homeless Emperor.'
"Twenty minutes," Gray grinned lightly, stretching his arm out casually.
After that, the whole planet will be destroyed by rampaging apes.
"That's enough time for a decent fight."
