Chapter 21 - Chapter Twenty: My History Tutor (내 역사 튜터)

Lee Jiseo POV (Point Of View)

"What are you doing here Arin?" Ha-ri said beside me. Arin glanced my way before looking at Ha-ri, "I got a message from the principal saying that my suspension is lifted and I should resume my classes. since midterms are a week away."

"What?!" Ha-ri yelled next to me. "You left out the part that you have to do some labour around the school since you got your suspension punishment lifted." Jaehyun spoke up.

Arin shot him a sharp glare before rolling her eyes, "Whatever." Then she entered the school building. I looked at Jaehyun wondering how he knew and he seemed to know the thoughts behind my eyes, "That's the punishment that is given to students who did wrong when it's close to exam or test periods." He explained. I nodded my head in understanding.

"Class will begin in a few minutes, let's get going." Ha-ri nudged my side, "Oh, and Taemin, Jiseo won't be available to tutor you today." She said to Taemin before pulling me and Dae into the school building.

"Do you know Min-hyun?" Dae whispered so only I and Ha-ri could hear since there are still students in the hallway. "No. I'm just meeting him for the first time." I said shaking my head. "So why was he looking at you like he knew you?" Ha-ri said in confusion.

I shrugged, not knowing how to reply to her question because I was also confused. We got to our class and sat down at our seats, waiting for our Korean history teacher. A few minutes later, he came into the class.

"Good morning class, sorry for taking too long, let's begin with our lesson shall we?" He said with a smile. "Okay!" Everyone responded. I sighed, "Hopefully, I can understand everything that would be taught."

Class began and the next sentence that came out of the history teacher's mouth shocked me right to my core, "Okay class, we will take a practice pop quiz right now to see if you are prepared for your Korean history class next week."

My eyes widened in shock and I guess I wasn't the only one who was feeling that way because the class went dead silent. "Don't worry, it is just a practice test. The principal told us that all teachers should do this to train you guys."

"What the heck am I going to do? I didn't study." I whispered to Ha-ri. She looked at me with pity, "Everything will be okay, you can copy from my paper."

I sighed, thinking all my problems were over until the teacher said this, "Oh, and also, you guys should switch your sitting arrangements." My eyes widened in shock and I glanced at Ha-ri who was already looking at me in panic.

"You'll be fine. You'll be fine." She reassured me. Soon, our history teacher began assigning seats and assigned me to sit with Arin. "Just when my day couldn't get worse, the universe decides to play poker with me." I groaned under my breath.

I slowly stood up from my seat and walked over to the seat next to Arin and sat down. We sat in silence until our history teacher was done assigning seats. "Okay, now the test papers will be passed around and you guys can begin."

When the test papers got to us, we began answering. I kept staring at the questions like it was telling me to fill out a job application form. A few minutes later the test was over and I stared at my filled paper with uncertainty.

We submitted our papers and the history class went on but I was anxious about my score, even though it is a practice test, I still felt like it was a normal school exam. The rest of the classes I attended today also had practice tests and I think I did well in them, except my history class of course.

After school I was summoned to the teacher's office, I looked at Ha-ri who was already staring at me with concern, "I'll go with you." She suggested and I nodded but Min-ho stopped her, "She was told to come alone, but you can wait for her outside."

We followed Min-ho to the office and I saw a lot of teachers there. 'Well, it's their office so of course they will be there.' I said inwardly. I entered the office with Min-ho while Ha-ri waited outside.

We walked to the history teacher's table, when I noticed him staring at a test paper but it wasn't just anybody's test paper, it was MY test paper and it had a huge red F in the top right corner. He turned to me and I quickly bowed to him.

"Hey, Jiseo." He said before dropping my test paper on his desk and my eyes went to the big bold F, so did Min-ho's. "Do you have any issues with me? Like do you hate me?" He said, looking at me with concern.

My eyes widened in shock, "What?! Of course I don't! Why would you think that?" He sighed before looking back at my test paper then looked back at me, "Well that's because, in all the practice tests you took today, you only failed my subject. You got A's in all the subjects but got an F in my subject so I want to know if you have a silent beef with me so we can resolve it right here."

I looked down at my paper with a big F on it before looking back at him in embarrassment, "I don't have any problems with you and I think you are a very fun teacher but the issue is that I really suck at your subject and I really need time to study Korean's history." I explained.

"Well, I totally understand because you just came to Korea but I think I have a solution to your problem." He said before turning his attention to Min-ho, "Min-ho, if you have the time can you please tutor Jiseo on Korean history? I would give you extra credit for helping her out. Min-ho looked at me before looking at my test paper on the desk and looked at the teacher before nodding.

"Sure, I'll help her out." He replied. The history teacher gave me a huge smile, "Guess we've found a solution to your problem." He said before handing me my test paper and waved us goodbye. I gave him a small smile, before bowing and walked out of the office.

Ha-ri stood, waiting for us outside and when she saw us, she walked to my side, "How'd it go?" I showed her my test paper and her eyes widened in shock and she took the paper from my hand and glanced at my answers before looking back at me in disbelief.

"Are you a fool? Question 5 was literally the easiest question out of everything and you still managed to fail it." She shook her head. "Give me a break. I have been studying Maths, and I literally forgot that I had to study history." I whined before turning to Min-ho, "Thank you for agreeing to tutor me on history."

He looked at me before responding, "No problem." "Also, I wanted to ask if you wouldn't mind if I followed you on Instagram." I asked before bringing out my phone and going to his profile. Waiting for his response.

"Huh?" He blurted out in shock. I stared at him weirdly, "I said, is it okay if I follow your Instagram account? I noticed you liked my photo and also viewed my story so I was wondering if you wanted to become friends with me on Instagram."

"No." He said before walking away from us. I looked at Ha-ri who was staring at me like I grew an extra head. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?" "Why are you trying to get yourself into something that would get you in trouble?" She sighed.

"How is following him on Instagram trouble?" I asked. She stared at me with disbelief before hitting me on the arm and pulled me into an empty classroom, "That's because his crazy girlfriend is going to come after you. She would think you're trying to steal him away from her." She explained.

My mouth opened in realisation, "Oh yeah, that's right. It does look like I'm trying to steal her fiance or boyfriend. I'll try to stay away from him to avoid getting into more trouble with her."

"Well, it's too late for that because he is your History tutor now. Good luck with avoiding him." She reminded me about that. I sighed before walking out of the class with Ha-ri following behind, "Let's go grab a snack before we head to the library.
