The rain kept falling as Shika stepped through the shadows into Amegakure with Guren and Kimimaro. The path was clear. Suigetsu and Haku had done their job well. Most guards were already dealt with, and the sensory array was down.
"Handle the guards and then go after a hot girl with blue hair and angel-like face with wings to boot," I said, earning strange glares from both of them. I just realized that these two weren't Suigetsu and Haku — at least those two know how to take a joke.
Shika moved quickly but kept to the shadows. He, by the anime knowledge, knew that Pain wouldn't come out until the very last, so he wasn't planning on acting either. He'd only act when Pain came out and not before that.
Guren and Kimimaro took the lead. As they moved deeper into the tall buildings of Amegakure, they finally found someone waiting. Konan stood in the middle of a large hall, surrounded by falling rain and paper fluttering around her like wings.
"You have given us much trouble," Konan said, glaring daggers at them, seemingly knowing that they were the members of Yuguure. Shika, however, was hiding, waiting for Pain to enter. He didn't have to hide, but he wished to have a good entrance.
"Huh, what do you know, she is hot," Guren whistled.
Guren didn't answer. She stepped forward and launched her crystal attacks without hesitation. Sharp crystal spikes shot from the ground toward Konan, but she turned into paper and flew up, avoiding the attack. Kimimaro moved in next, using his bone spear to slash through her paper clones.
Konan spread her wings wide and released a rain of paper bombs. The hall shook from the blasts, but Guren blocked them with a crystal wall while Kimimaro slipped through the smoke to attack. His speed caught Konan off guard — he pierced through her paper shield and landed a solid hit, cutting her shoulder.
She winced but flew higher, creating hundreds of paper shuriken. Guren countered with a rain of crystal needles while Kimimaro rushed up a crystal pillar Guren made. He reached Konan mid-air and slammed her down to the ground.
Konan hit hard. She tried to rise, but Kimimaro's next attack pinned her. Guren stepped forward, surrounding Konan with crystal flowers ready to explode.
While she could overwhelm either Guren or Kimimaro in a one-on-one, two-on-one was something entirely different. Shika saw the fight and honestly, he now felt that those two had gotten stronger. He couldn't be any more happy seeing his side getting stronger.
And just as Konan was about to go down, the sound of thunder echoed through Amegakure as the broken doors of the hall burst open. The ground trembled slightly under the weight of six figures stepping forward, all with the same cold, emotionless Rinnegan eyes.
The Six Paths of Pain had arrived.
They stood in formation — silent, powerful, terrifying. Each one was different in build and appearance, but all carried the same dominating presence. In the center stood the Deva Path, the main body, staring ahead like a god judging mortals.
However, the real one wasn't among them. Honestly, Kankuro had nothing on Nagato — the biggest puppet master. Though maybe that title should go to someone like Zetsu or Kaguya even.
"You have caused us enough setbacks," he said, voice calm but filled with indifference — but there was a hint of hatred there. "You will face divine punishment."
Kimimaro and Guren immediately stepped back. Knowing who this person was, they knew that even if they went all out, they couldn't beat him. They could only hope that Shika could. Even after knowing that, they prepared to fight.
Before Pain could make a move, however...
Boom!
The ground shook, and it almost felt like it shattered upon whatever fell from the sky.
Two enormous figures dropped from above, slamming into the ground between Guren, Kimimaro, and the Six Paths of Pain. The impact cracked the earth, sending a gust of wind across the battlefield.
Dust and debris exploded into the air.
As it cleared, the two forms became visible — towering, powerful, and nothing but danger.
One was Mahoraga with his snake-like head and enormous body, while Dharma Chakra hovered above his head.
The one beside him, though, was a new addition. Almost as big as Mahoraga and to some degree almost as dangerous. This was what Shika was able to bring to life after sacrificing one of his Shikigami.
"Chimera Beast Agito."
The shout came as Shika too followed the two of his Shikigamis. This was a combination of Funeral Tiger, Great Serpent, Round Deer, and Nue. To make this work he had to give up either Round Deer or Great Serpent.
Though he didn't wish to give up on any of his Shikigamis, given no other option, he chose to sacrifice Great Serpent over Round Deer for obvious reasons.
As for why — well, simple. He needed more power to fight against someone like Pain.
Pain narrowed his eyes. He remembered Shika in Shadow's getup and Mahoraga, but the other summon was new. And thus, he knew the real threat had finally arrived.
"You..." Pain almost spat out.
"I heard someone calling a God..." Shika smirked.
