They planned to get the woman Onto Their ship and then shoot the cannons to sink that ship since they thought the only valuable item on that ship was that woman
They checked More to see how Many people were other than Robin and they saw a man whom the pirates thought was nobody since they hadn't seen

And they didnt think of them as problems since according to them, all the big people on the ship have huge Ships unlike Yoriichi
So they did not think much about Him even though he had a sword with him and continued to search for more people but they couldn't find any at all
They think there are only 2 people on the ship making them think that their plan might be easier than they thought since they all think that even if the woman refused to come with them then surely they forcefully force the woman on their ship without issue
They loaded their cannons in advance and tried to reach as near as possible to the Yoriichi Ship in order to attack it
Unfortunately for them, they will be the ones who will suffer the most in their plan at this moment as soon as they reach near them, Yoriichi is clearly able to sense their malicious intent
