Jiang Wang had witnessed Dao texts several times before. These texts were different from the Zhuang Country script he had learned as a child, and later the Qi Country script he had encountered. Dao texts carried ancient legacies and secrets of the Dao and conveyed meaning to anyone who beheld them, regardless of literacy.
It was said that when great masters used Dao texts, a single character could amount to an entire article. With just a few strokes, boundless meanings would manifest—encompassing the rise and fall of the cosmos and all the myriad phenomena of the mortal world.
The scripts used by ordinary people nowadays from different nations were normalized evolutions, designed for ease of communication and transmission among common folk. In a sense, they were a divergent form—a spreading and elaboration—of the Dao.
The threshold of Dao texts lies in their users, not their readers.
