Chapter 68 - Season 3: Universe Question

[Game Quest]

[The L##I of Life]

[Faraday]

[Creation Story 3]

There was a light.

A light from a single apex, a single center, a single point.

Could Soshin have created this?

No—Soshin was still asleep at this time.

Soshin's grand nap, which followed the formation of (The Third) Quantity, allowed time to flourish. One event after another, something emerged from that light.

That something was… the representation of another god.

Another idea.

An avatar from an entirely different interpretation of the word existence.

The Light—this Private Light—in its own darkness and wake, was always awake.

So, what is the creation story of this being?

There is none.

Or rather, what exists is the lack of a creation story.

It is a phenomenon where ontology breaks down, form dissolves, and identity melts away.

This dissolution is called FARA.

And her sister form?

Faraday.

[Later…]

Sitting inside a quiet café is one of the most powerful beings to ever exist: Soshin.

She sips her morning coffee, eyes lazily drifting to the blank white ceiling tiles above.

She picks up her phone and begins texting someone who used to be central—but now lingers in the background.

Even though she is the Universe, Rei Aki-ma has stolen the spotlight.

Why?

Because the Observable Universe isn't really the "talking" type.

Soshin sends a message.

The Observable Universe replies,

"A deep sleep? You haven't slept in a very long time."

"But you should get your rest."

"You've done a lot."

Soshin says,

"Oh, why, thank you."

"But there's something I must ask."

She pauses, exhales slowly—like she's about to say something that might offend someone.

Soshin says,

"Since you and Rei are now… different people, what will you call yourself?"

"Ideally, you're your own person now."

The Observable Universe stops.

Then, she begins typing again.

She types,

"I don't know, Soshin."

"A lot of what makes up me comes from Rei."

"I am but a cosmic being. A greater cosmic being."

"No… I am everything."

Soshin says,

"That's cool, but don't you wanna be a bit more human now that the both of you removed a lot of that cosmic nonsense from the universe?"

"Which means you need to go to Japan, get a new house, and figure it out from there."

"Try being a normal human like Rei."

"Rei met Hisako and they became wonderful friends."

The Observable Universe types,

"I will."

"It is rare that I listen to you, Soshin."

"The deep hunger within me could devour you at any time."

"But… does this mean we are entering a new Game Quest arc?"

Soshin says,

"Game Quest, at this point, is just a collection of loosely connected side stories."

"But it seems like in the next chapter, Chang Nam Woo and friends are gonna form some kind of bootleg Guardians of the Galaxy."

"And the story will go from there."

"What a weird story this is."

"Anyways—go do that thing!"

"Bye-bye!"

The Observable Universe vanishes.

She warps to Japan to start a new life.

[Later…]

The Observable Universe strolls through the crowded streets of Tokyo.

Her eyes dart from one building to the next until she finds it—REGIONAL BANK.

She walks through its crystal-clear glass doors and steps onto plush, silky carpet.

It's payday. The bank is packed.

She walks to the end of the line and looks around.

Everyone is either on their phones or deep in their own world.

And yet… no one notices her.

No one reacts to the cosmic entity in their midst.

She thinks,

"There must be an explanation for this!"

Let's explain why.

Why isn't anyone reacting to a space-like cosmic being standing in a Japanese bank?

[Theological Out-of-Universe Explanation]

In Japan, people believe in グレート・スピリット—The Great Spirit—which is the true form of Dragonviper.

Dragonviper was one of the beasts that existed even before Soshin's Great Beast.

This creature was dissolved when the Observable Universe merged with Rei Aki-ma.

Its power rivaled even The First and could stand against the Grande Wishgrander, the Great Miracle Kitsune.

But why do people still ignore the Observable Universe's presence?

[Theological Benchmark Statement Unread by Faraday]

A long, long time ago—

Before time existed.

Before wishes.

Before miracles.

Before even the concept of "before" itself…

In another type of fiction entirely…

Ahem!

The Heart!

The Spirit!

The Soul!

The Source!

Everything that makes up a self.

What's that?

You say The Spirit?

You say The Creation Lamb?

Ha! Are you crazy?

The Spirit is the fundamental driving force that collapses the difference between space and time.

It is the invisible, undetectable lamb.

But even this isn't everything.

The Universal Divine Unconscious emerged.

Well… it didn't emerge, because it didn't travel. But you get the idea.

Within the Plane of The First—God and Fiber—came the Divine.

In Creation Story 0.5, you already know that the Observable Universe forged herself.

But there was another being.

One who shaped the Japanese mind.

Or maybe, one who made sure the Observable Universe would survive…

After Soshin told her to stop being so depressed.

Wait…

Did you think I was Faraday?

Haha.

Nope.

I'm just a projection of your thoughts while you're reading this.

If you want me to enter the story—

That'll have to wait.

[Back to the Bank]

The Observable Universe finally reaches the counter.

She pulls out her phone and types something.

She shows the message to the bank teller.

She writes,

"Hello there. I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I'd like to take out a small loan."

The bank teller blinks and checks her details.

Then she stutters and says,

"Y-You sure you want a loan? You seem… pretty wealthy, miss."

The Observable Universe checks her balance.

Her savings account reads: 6 billion yen.

She tilts her head.

That… must've been something Rei set up.

But then she pauses.

No—Rei wouldn't have made that much money working a normal job.

Something else is going on.

She exits the bank without taking any money.

Now, it's time to find a place to live.

[Later…]

She chooses a stylish but not over-the-top apartment complex.

Fully furnished. Nicely decorated. Not too flashy. Perfect.

She flicks the light switch off.

Tucks herself in.

And sleeps.

Once again—

The Universe rests.

[First End]

The next chapter continues directly from Game Quest Chapter 67.

Soshin says,

"I was just having a lovely talk with The Universe."

"What do you two dragons want?"

Mirai says,

"We want peace, and to have a little talk with you."

"Let's have some fun, shall we?"

Faraday says,

"H-How about instead of fighting, we get along together?"

Soshin says,

"I can take on both of you."

"You can even start using your X Existence—it won't matter!"

Funneh says,

"How about we figure out another way, like Faraday said?"

Korai says,

"Indeed. We could solve this another way—a different way."

"A dragon's way."
