Chapter 1428 - Misery Loves Company

Because of the accident with the aircraft, and now being stranded in the middle of nowhere, the passengers were all extremely uneasy at night, they're huddled together and shivering inside the aircraft.

Feeling stifled inside the aircraft and unable to fall asleep, Yuga decided to step out alone to get some fresh air.

The moment he stepped outside, Yuga shivered and couldn't help but pull his clothes tighter around himself. Although it was already spring, the temperature in Sinnoh was much lower than in Hoenn and Alola. At night, it was even colder, almost like winter in Hoenn.

But despite the chill, the night scenery was beautiful. Yuga looked up and saw a sky full of stars. The moon was especially bright, and the moonlight seemed to lay a silvery veil over everything beneath it.

He found a rock to sit on and admired the moonlight for a while. Just as he was about to head back, he suddenly felt as if the temperature had dropped even further.

At first, Yuga didn't think much of it, but after walking a few steps, his foot suddenly slipped and he nearly fell. Looking down closely, he discovered that the ground had actually frozen over.

Yuga was very surprised. It was cold, yes, but not cold enough to freeze the ground! Moreover, this was a desert—full of rocks and sand with no water around. How could it freeze?

Just as Yuga was feeling confused, a rustling sound broke the silence of the night. He turned his head and looked around, noticing that, at some point, countless dark shadows had appeared around him. At the same time, frost began to form in the air.

As the temperature around the area dropped further and further, Phoebe also sensed that something was wrong. She brought her Banette outside to investigate the situation.

As a Ghost-type Pokémon, darkness didn't hinder Banette's vision. With a glance, it clearly saw the situation around them.

Their aircraft had been surrounded by a group of Froslass and Glalie.

These Froslass and Glalie were constantly releasing cold air. Not only was the ground freezing, frost was condensing in the air, and even parts of the aircraft had started to ice over.

After understanding the situation, Phoebe appeared beside Yuga in the next second.

"We're surrounded by a group of Froslass and Glalie," Phoebe said to Yuga.

Yuga nodded and then said, "Froslass and Glalie are Pokémon that live in snowy regions. By all logic, they shouldn't appear here."

Phoebe replied, "There's a snow mountain just east of here. They probably came from there."

After the aircraft landed during the day, Yuga and Phoebe had gone out to check the surrounding environment, and they had indeed noticed that snow mountain not too far away.

Snowy mountains weren't rare in Sinnoh, so Yuga and the others hadn't paid it much attention at the time.

"We have to drive these Froslass and Glalie away. If they stay here, they'll unconsciously release large amounts of cold air, and the passengers inside the aircraft won't be able to bear it," said Phoebe.

"That's true," Yuga nodded. Even he was almost unable to stand the cold now.

Phoebe acted immediately. She turned to her Banette and said, "Banette, Will-O-Wisp!"

Banette flashed forward, and suddenly several ghostly blue flames, each the size of a fist, appeared around its body. Under the moonlight, they looked eerie and terrifying.

With a wave of Banette's small hand, the Will-O-Wisps floated out like a long serpent and started weaving through the group of Froslass and Glalie.

However, the Will-O-Wisps were under Banette's control and didn't actually touch the Froslass or Glalie. After all, Phoebe's goal wasn't to harm them—she simply wanted to drive them away.

But this group of Froslass and Glalie were extremely stubborn. At first, they were indeed a bit startled, but then one of them—no one knew whether it was a Glalie or a Froslass—used Ice Beam to freeze a wisp of flame into an icy lump and dropped it to the ground. Immediately, the rest of the Glalie and Froslass followed suit. In no time, all of Banette's Will-O-Wisps had been wiped out.

Seeing this, Yuga called out his Mismagius to assist Banette in driving them away. But this move completely enraged the Froslass and Glalie. They banded together and all simultaneously used the move Hail.

This group of Froslass and Glalie was quite large, and the Hail they used together was truly overwhelming. In the blink of an eye, countless wind and snow came pouring down, blowing so fiercely that Yuga and Champion Phoebe couldn't even keep their eyes open.

As soon as the hail weather appeared, the temperature dropped even lower. The passengers inside the aircraft, who had been asleep, were all woken up by the cold, and the captain had to come out and reassure everyone.

At the same time, Phoebe's subordinates also came out, intending to help drive away the Glalie and Froslass.

However, these Glalie and Froslass were extremely cunning. They didn't confront the group head-on but instead used the wind and snow to conceal themselves. If they could avoid a fight, they would. This was especially true for the Froslass with the Snow Cloak ability—ordinary Trainers couldn't even catch the faintest trace of them.

Under the influence of the Hail weather, it didn't take long before everything around turned into a world of ice and snow.

In fact, this group of Glalie and Froslass wasn't very high-leveled and weren't that hard to deal with. The real trouble came from their ability to interfere with the environment by creating icy conditions.

Yuga thought for a moment and then released Bellossom, Venusaur, Roserade, Torterra, Serperior, and Sawsbuck.

"Everyone, use Sunny Day together!"

The Pokémon all responded and used the Sunny Day move simultaneously.

However, while Yuga's Pokémon were indeed powerful, the Sunny Day move was significantly weakened at night, so they weren't able to overpower the Hail created by the Froslass and Glalie in terms of controlling the weather. This gave Yuga a headache.

At this moment, Charizard stepped forward on its own, saying that it would take over the task of dispersing the Hail. Seeing how confident it was, Yuga nodded and agreed.

Charizard flapped its wings, its entire body glowing with flames as it shot into the sky. In the darkness of the night, it looked like a miniature sun, illuminating the ground below.

It flew higher and higher, until soon its figure disappeared from Yuga's line of sight. Only a faint, fiery red glow could be seen floating in the sky.

"Roar~!"

A deafening roar suddenly rang out from the sky, so powerful that even the howling wind and snow couldn't muffle it.

Immediately after, Yuga saw the pitch-black sky turn bright red as a sea of fire clouds spread outward, instantly dispersing all the wind and snow.

The flames, resembling a dazzling sunset, formed a fire dragon that roamed through the sky. Every time the fire dragon twisted its body, the temperature rose a little. In no time, the frigid chill of deep winter warmed into the balmy air of early spring.

Seeing this, Yuga was overjoyed. He knew Charizard had unlocked a new level of the Flame Heart from the legendary Moltres, and had fully transformed Moltres's powers into its own.

With the snowstorm dispersed, the once arrogant Froslass and Glalie immediately fell silent. They huddled together, trembling, the heat radiating from above making them feel extremely uncomfortable—as if their bodies were about to melt.

With the help of Mori and the others, Yuga and Phoebe quickly managed to capture the Froslass and Glalie.

Just as Phoebe was about to drive them away, Yuga suddenly spoke up to stop her.

"Wait a moment."

Phoebe looked puzzled and asked, "What is it? Don't tell me you want to capture them?"

Yuga shook his head. This group of Froslass and Glalie had too many low potential Pokémon, and there wasn't a single one of high enough caliber to catch his eye. He just had a suspicion.

"I just want to ask, why did they suddenly leave their perfectly fine snowy mountain and come all the way here, even refusing to leave? Logically speaking, since we're here and they can't beat us, they shouldn't insist on staying, right?" Yuga explained.

"That makes sense," Phoebe agreed, "Then go ahead and ask."

Actually, Phoebe also had the ability to communicate with Ghost-type Pokémon—after all, Froslass is a Ghost type. But her communication wasn't as convenient or smooth as Yuga's, so she left the questioning to him.

Under Charizard's looming threat, the Froslass and Glalie behaved very obediently. Before long, they spilled everything to Yuga.

It turned out that their departure from the snowy mountain was actually related to the Altaria and Darkrai that Yuga and the others had encountered during the day.

The Froslass and Glalie originally lived on the outskirts of a nearby snowy mountain, but during the day, an Altaria suddenly fell from the sky and crashed heavily into their territory, and right after that, a Darkrai also arrived in pursuit.

The two Pokémon began to battle right there in the territory of the Froslass and Glalie, and the shockwaves generated by their fight rampaged across the area.

The Froslass and Glalie were not high-level; how could they possibly withstand such powerful shockwaves? Very soon, many of their clan members were injured, and most of them were still young Snorunt.

These Snorunt were slow to flee and took the brunt of the damage, so all the Froslass and Glalie had no choice but to evacuate their territory along with the injured.

Originally, they were merely passing by Yuga and the others, with no intention of clashing with them. However, some of the injured Snorunt suddenly took a turn for the worse, forcing the Froslass and Glalie to stop and lower the surrounding temperature to alleviate the Snorunt's injuries.

That drop in temperature was what caught Yuga and the others' attention.

After hearing all this, Yuga couldn't help but feel deeply moved. These Froslass and Glalie had suffered a disaster that wasn't of their own making. In a way, they were fellow victims—if it weren't for getting caught up in the battle between Altaria and Darkrai, they wouldn't have ended up in such a miserable state, suffering in the cold and snow.

How unlucky!

Thinking this, Yuga couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for the Froslass and Glalie, so he asked, "Where are your injured members? Maybe I can help you."

Healing may not be everything, but when it came to that, Yuga was top-notch.

After learning about the Froslass and Glalie's situation, Phoebe also felt great sympathy for them and didn't object to Yuga treating the injured Snorunt.

The Froslass and Glalie were very happy to hear what Yuga said and immediately led him to their injured clan members.

The injured had been placed right beside the aircraft. There was a large boulder like a small hill, which had been hollowed out. Inside, the Froslass and Glalie had created a world of ice and snow.

Once Yuga entered, he found not only many injured Snorunt inside, but also a considerable number of injured Glalie and Froslass. Judging from their wounds, it was indeed the work of Altaria and Darkrai.

Because the number of injured was a bit too large, Yuga had no choice but to call out Chimecho and Florges to help. Florges summoned a Grassy Terrain for support, while Yuga used Healing Energy, and Chimecho released Heal Pulse.

If it weren't for the benefits he had gained when Ultra Necrozma was revived, which had upgraded his special abilities, treating this many injured Pokémon at once would still be a struggle for him.

Still, Yuga's abilities were far from reaching the heights of his master's, so it took him the entire night to finish treating all the wounded.

Fortunately, none of the injured required Max Revive to recover, or he would have been heartbroken.

After the treatment was complete, Yuga was utterly exhausted. He then said to the Froslass and Glalie, "The treatment is finished, they'll be fine now. You should leave as soon as possible."

The environment here was not suitable for Froslass and Glalie to live in—let alone the even more fragile Snorunt. For them to stay here, they had to continuously use their own powers to lower the surrounding temperature in order to create an environment somewhat similar to that of the snowy mountain.

But they themselves were not very strong to begin with. This method simply couldn't be sustained for long. If they stayed here, the situation would only get worse and worse.

After treating the Snorunt, Yuga who is exhausted, went into the aircraft and took a nap. By the time he woke up, it was already noon.

"Did the captain say when the rescue would arrive?" Yuga asked Phoebe.

Phoebe shook her head and replied, "No news yet."

Upon hearing this, Yuga sighed. "We still don't know how long we'll be stuck here."

Actually, it wasn't that Yuga and the others couldn't leave on their own. But he and Phoebe were, after all, the highest-ranking League members present, and this aircraft was operated by the League. If they simply left hundreds of passengers behind and walked away, it would reflect terribly on them.

The passengers were already quite uneasy. If the League's Elite Four and a top-tier Trainer left as well, they might panic or even start causing trouble.

Sometimes, one's status was also a kind of shackle. If Yuga and Phoebe were just ordinary people, they could have left without a second thought.

After casually grabbing a bite for lunch, Yuga came out of the aircraft again to get some fresh air. He wasn't the only one—some of the passengers were also outside getting air. With so many people stuck inside the aircraft, it was natural to feel stifled.

However, those willing to come outside were mostly Trainers, who had some capacity to protect themselves in case of a wild Pokémon attack. Ordinary people, even if feeling restless, were mostly unwilling to take the risk of stepping outside—last night's incident was still fresh in their minds.

Yuga strolled around a bit and was surprised to find that the group of Froslass and Glalie hadn't left. When they saw him, they even looked at him with pitiful expressions.

When Yuga asked, he found out that they had nowhere else to go.

In this entire vast area, there was only one snowy mountain. Now that they had been driven out by Altaria and Darkrai, where else could they go?

Yuga thought for a moment, then went to find Phoebe and asked her to continue holding down the fort here. He was planning to escort the Froslass and Glalie clan back to the snowy mountain. After all, the mountain wasn't far from here—it wouldn't take long to make a round trip.

If Altaria and Darkrai had already left, then great. But if they were still there, he would just give them a lesson.

Although those two Pokémon were strong, Altaria was actually just a Master level Pokémon. Yuga didn't think much of it. As for the other one, Darkrai, despite being a legendary Pokémon, posed no threat to Yuga.
