Chapter 347 - Chapter 344

The Land of Chaos is located in the north of the Siacan Kingdom and serves as the battleground for the three duchies: the Mulin Duchy, the Maner Duchy, and the Chama Duchy.

A duchy is a level below a kingdom. Originally, these three duchies were part of a single kingdom, but due to a rebellion during the transition between the old and new kings, the kingdom was torn apart.

Several grand dukes rose in rebellion, leading to the kingdom's collapse. These grand dukes continuously fought against each other, each seeking to eliminate their rivals and establish a new kingdom.

In the end, the land was divided among three grand dukes, forming the three major duchies. This created a three-way balance of power, but the fighting never stopped—each duchy aimed to conquer the others.

Aside from these three dominant duchies, there were also weaker dukes, marquises, and noble factions that managed to carve out small territories for themselves.

Bella's plan was to target these weaker noble factions. By conquering their lands, she could establish a territory for the beastkins to live in. From there, they could gradually grow in strength, eventually swallowing up the three major duchies and founding a new beastkins Kingdom.

Of course, all of this was just a plan for now. Bella, along with her subordinates, had set up camp on a mountaintop in the Land of Chaos.

Inside the Mountain Stronghold's Hall…

"How is the intelligence I ordered you to gather?" Bella asked calmly, her eyes half-closed.

They had been in the Land of Chaos for some time now, but information was the one thing they lacked. Once she fully understood the situation, she would begin deploying her forces to raid and seize resources.

Only with enough resources could Bella expand her knight force, and only then could she seize noble territories. Otherwise, with her current small force, even if she managed to take over a minor noble's land, it wouldn't be of much use—it might even hinder their mobility.

"Boss Bella, the viscount we've been watching belongs to the Chama Duchy. His territory has around 200 knights, but only a little over 100 of them have iron armor—the rest wear leather armor." Someone immediately stepped forward to report.

"Did you find out how much wheat is stored in his granary?" Bella asked calmly. The number of knights didn't concern her much.

Wheat was her real goal. beastkins had huge appetites, and with winter already here, the wheat they had brought with them was almost depleted.

If they didn't steal some wheat soon, their grand ambitions wouldn't just fail—they'd starve to death on the streets instead. That would be the biggest joke of the year.

If that golden-maned lioness or that flat-chested woman found out, they would laugh until their stomachs hurt. Just the thought of it made Bella firm her resolve—even if she couldn't achieve her goal, she sure as hell wasn't going to starve.

"Enough for us to eat freely for 3 months!" A rat beastkin shouted.

"A month? We're taking it!" Bella's eyes lit up. That was a good amount—if they didn't gorge themselves, it could last 4 months. And if they rationed carefully, maybe even 5 months?

"Yeah!" The beastkins cheered, thrilled by the prospect of food. If only they knew that Bella never intended to let them eat freely—would they still be this excited?

"Get ready. We move out at noon!" Bella waved her hand and shouted with excitement, "Let's go steal that wheat!"

"Tap, tap, tap..."

Before the crowd could even finish cheering, a panicked voice suddenly rang out from outside.

"Boss Bella! Bad news! Bad news…!"

"Stop! Shut up! What do you mean I'm bad news?" Bella snapped, her deep brown, slit-pupiled eyes glaring at the panting pig beastkin who had just rushed in.

She rebuked him sternly, "How many times have I told you—no matter what happens, never panic?"

A bad feeling crept into her chest.

And soon, she was about to find out why.

"Boss Bella, that… that viscount got raided by someone else first!" The pig beastkin shouted in a panic.

"What?!" Bella shot to her feet, staring blankly at him. Did she just hear that right?

"It's true! The viscount was attacked just this morning!" The pig beastkin insisted seriously.

"I @%#&%...!" Bella cursed violently in her head. What the hell?! She had just planned to make a move, and now someone else had beaten her to it?!

Taking a deep breath to suppress her frustration, Bella's voice turned icy. "Who did it? Who dares steal our prey?"

"Boss Bella, it was the knights of the Maner Duchy! I recognized their banner!" The pig beastkin confirmed.

The beastkins exchanged confused glances. What the hell? So all that excitement was for nothing?

"..." Bella slumped back into her chair, lost in thought. It didn't take long for her to realize what was happening—the battlefield was expanding. If the duchies were raiding for food, that meant they were running low on grain too.

With only 300 beastkins knights, she had no chance of fighting against the thousands of knights from a duchy. For now, she had no choice but to stay low-profile—any reckless move could draw unwanted attention and get them wiped out.

"Cancel the operation. Ration the wheat—we'll have to make it last," Bella said helplessly, waving a hand. "Keep looking for a new target, even if it's a smaller one."

She had no interest in raiding merchant caravans like some common bandit. That was too lowly for someone like her—a duke's daughter.

What she really wanted to rob was a prince, a duke, or some high-ranking noble.

"Yes..." The beastkins responded weakly, their excitement crushed. With the feast gone, they left the hall feeling deflated and disappointed.

Bella watched their retreating backs with a sigh. Had she underestimated the situation? She had come here thinking it would be easy to raid and conquer, but now they couldn't even pull off a simple robbery.

"Are we really going to leave in defeat...?" Frustrated, Bella grabbed her long green hair, scratching her scalp as she gritted her teeth. "No way! I have to take a piece of land!"

But then came the bigger question—what next?

"Even if I take land… how do I develop it? Am I supposed to just keep raiding forever?" Bella frowned, deep in thought.

"Maybe... I could work with humans? Trick them a little first?"

She immediately rejected the idea. "No. Humans are too cunning."

She went through several different plans in her head, only to dismiss them all.

Leaning on her hand, she muttered to herself, "I wonder how Ayesha is doing… Has Freya found that flat-chested woman? And where the hell is that lion girl...?"

After arriving in the Land of Chaos, Bella realized it was even more chaotic than she had imagined. But the biggest issue? She had no resources.

Food, supplies, clothing, weapons—she had none of it.

If only someone backed her with resources, she was confident that in just a few years, she could unite the three duchies and establish a beastkin nation.

But at the end of the day… Her brilliance was in warfare. When it came to governance and development, she was honestly terrible.

Not that it was her fault—her father had never taught her.

As Bella sat in deep thought, the flickering candlelight cast long shadows across the wooden walls of the stronghold's hall. The reality of her situation was sinking in fast—her forces weren't just a small army on the rise; they were starving rebels barely scraping by. Without land, without stable food supplies, and with winter fast approaching, her so-called "beastkin nation" was nothing more than a pipe dream.

She let out a long sigh and clenched her fists. "I need a new plan."

A sharp knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts.

"Boss Bella, I have something!" A panther beastkin scout slipped inside the hall, his golden eyes gleaming in the dim light. "While scouting, I found a small barony near the border of the Maner and Chama Duchies. It's not as rich as the viscount's land, but…"

Bella raised an eyebrow. "But what?"

"It's isolated. The baron has only fifty knights under his command, and half of them are away on patrols. It's the perfect opportunity."

Bella straightened, her mind whirring. Fifty knights? That was manageable. More importantly, an isolated barony meant fewer chances of outside interference.

"Tell me about their food stores."

"Not much, but enough to last us 2 months if we ration properly."

Bella tapped her fingers against the wooden armrest. It wasn't ideal, but it was something. More importantly, it gave them a base—a foundation for something greater.

"Alright," She decided. "We take the barony."

The beastkin warriors in the hall perked up. It wasn't the grand victory they had been hoping for, but it was better than nothing.

"But we do this smart," Bella added. "No reckless charging in. We hit hard, fast, and clean. No unnecessary deaths. We need those peasants to keep farming."

That very night, Bella and her forces moved. The wind was sharp, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth as they traveled under the cover of darkness.

The barony was lightly fortified—wooden palisades, a small stone manor, and a few guard towers. Nothing compared to the castles of the great duchies.

Her plan was simple. A small team of beastkin scouts would infiltrate and disable the guards at the gate. Once the entrance was open, the main force would storm in, overwhelming the defenders before they had a chance to regroup.

As dawn approached, the attack began.

A sudden arrow to the throat silenced the watchman. A second later, the gate creaked open.

Bella charged in at the front, her beastkin warriors at her back.

The fight was short and brutal. The human knights, caught off guard, barely managed to form a defense before being overrun. By sunrise, the manor was in her hands.

The beastkins cheered, but Bella only had one thought:

This is just the beginning.

After securing the barony, Bella wasted no time.

She gathered the captured soldiers and peasants in the town square. Their faces were filled with fear, uncertainty, and anger.

She climbed onto a wooden crate and looked down at them, her eyes gleaming in the morning light.

"Listen up!" She called. "I am Bella, leader of the beastkin army. From this day forward, this land belongs to us!"

The humans murmured, some clutching each other in fear.

Bella held up a hand. "I have no interest in slaughtering innocents. Keep farming, keep working, and no harm will come to you. Resist, and… well, you've already seen what happens."

She let the silence stretch before adding, "Do your job, and you'll be fed and protected. That's more than your last lord did for you."

A few peasants exchanged glances. They had been taxed harshly by their former baron. If Bella could provide stability, they might not resist.

Her first land was secured.

As Bella stood atop the manor's tower that night, she looked out over the land she had claimed.

It wasn't much. A single village, a few farms, some cattle, and a crumbling stone manor.

But it was hers.

For the first time since arriving in the Land of Chaos, she had something solid.

A base.

A beginning.

But she knew this was only the first step. The duchies wouldn't ignore her forever.

If she wanted to build a beastkin nation, she would have to be ready.

And for that, she needed more land, more troops, and more resources.

The war for survival had just begun.
