Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Battle against Magneto

"That's it?"

Arthur said contemptuously after dispatching all the dozens of mutants who rushed at him. Taking a step forward, the remaining mutants immediately recoiled in fright.

"Trash! Trash! You're all worthless!"

Magneto cursed instantly.

"Old man, why don't you come to face me yourself? Instead, you send your subordinates to their deaths. You know my strength!"

Arthur seized the opportunity to sow discord but clearly underestimated Magneto's influence over these mutants. They ignored Arthur's words and stood their ground.

"Step aside, I'll handle this personally!"

Magneto flicked his cloak and stepped out of the crowd.

"Let me ask you again, are you still unwilling to join us?"

"Cyclops!"

Arthur's glowing eyes responded to Magneto. Arthur feared Magneto's delayed reaction, so he shouted out.

A laser beam with terrifying heat shot out of Arthur's eyes. Magneto immediately controlled the surrounding steel to form a shield in resistance.

"Since you insist on courting death, I shall grant you that wish and show you the power of a fourth-level mutant!"

Magneto controlled the shield with one hand and extended the other.

The ground began to shake violently, and cracks appeared on the floor and walls of the house. Countless metal blades rushed toward Arthur.

Arthur's laser beam was instantly interrupted as the metal blades pierced his body, producing the sound of colliding with steel.

"All of you, get out!" Magneto yelled.

The remaining mutants wasted no time and fled the house within seconds.

"In this city, I am a god!" Magneto declared.

Observing that the metal blades proved futile against Arthur, Magneto waved his hand, causing the entire room to explode. Countless metals enveloped Arthur tightly. Unsatisfied, Magneto expanded his control to the entire island, transforming the metal casing surrounding Arthur into a hundreds-of-meters-wide iron ball.

Under Magneto's control, the metal ball rapidly flew toward the sea. Realizing that conventional methods couldn't kill Arthur, Magneto planned to drown him in the ocean.

"You're so shameless, blatantly plagiarizing my Earth Explosion Star!"

Arthur, inside the metal ball, complained without a hint of worry. He had time to voice his displeasure.

Arthur created a gravitational shield to protect himself, ensuring that the metal didn't touch him.

"Alright, enough playing. Let me demonstrate whether your magnetic force or my gravitational force is stronger!"

Arthur promptly activated his ability, causing the entire metal sphere to freeze in mid-air and shake violently.

"Huh?! What's happening?"

Magneto looked puzzled from outside, evidently unaware of Arthur's abilities.

"Boom!"

The metal sphere exploded instantly.

Then, all the wreckage began to revolve around Arthur.

"Old man, you were mistaken earlier. I am the god!"

Arthur held a nail in his hand, raising and lowering it before launching it at Magneto with incredible speed.

"Call out!"

"呲"

The nail grazed Magneto's face, leaving a visible scar. This blow would have been enough to kill Magneto before he could react. After all, apart from his ability to control magnetism, Magneto was still an ordinary human physically.

However, Arthur wasn't ready to end it just yet. Magneto was the primary antagonist in the X-Men series, and without him, the future wouldn't be as entertaining.

"Arthur!!"

Magneto, realizing his imminent demise, became furious instantly. He engulfed the entire city with his abilities, manipulating all the metal within to form a devastating metal storm.

"How dare you defy me! You're just a newly awakened child. Do you really think you can defeat me?"

Magneto promptly directed the metal storm to attack Arthur.

Observing the scene, which resembled the end of the world, Arthur remained calm and extended his hand toward the metal storm.

The metal storm froze in mid-air instantaneously.

"Old man, you know how to make a spectacle! But coincidentally, so do I!" Arthur smiled.

A gravitational field enveloped Magneto, immobilizing him.

"How is this possible... What kind of ability do you possess? Why can't I move?"

"Just like your magnetic force, it falls under the realm of gravitational force, one of the four fundamental forces!"

"One person... how is it possible to possess so many powerful superpowers at the same time..." Magneto spoke incredulously.

"Because... I am God!" Arthur replied.

Ignoring the metal suspended in mid-air, he slowly floated towards Magneto.

"Now, do you still want to fight?"

"What are you planning? To kill me?" Magneto maintained a calm exterior, but his heart was filled with panic. He feared that Arthur would truly end his life.

Magneto wasn't ready to die yet. He hadn't fulfilled his grand vision of leading mutants in overthrowing human dominance and establishing a world ruled by mutants.

"From the beginning, you sought me out, and you were the one who made the first move. Why do you now act like the victim after losing?" Arthur shook his head in disbelief.

"We approached you because you are a fellow mutant, and we hoped you would contribute to the mutant cause..." Magneto began bragging about his racial philosophy once again.

"Shut up!"

Arthur interrupted him with a loud shout.

"Old man, if it weren't for the sake of your two beloved daughters, I'd really want to beat you up!"

"What nonsense are you spouting? I don't have any daughters!" Magneto retorted.

"You don't need to know!" Arthur brushed it off casually.

"Since you won't kill me, you must have some demand. Why not state it directly?" Magneto got straight to the point.

"I don't have any specific requirements. I simply hope that you won't bother me in the future. Let me reiterate: I am not a mutant, and I don't possess the x-gene unique to mutants like you."

"I won't kill you this time. But if you provoke me again, I'll sink this island and kill all the mutants on it. Do you understand?"

"You... I understand..."

Magneto became instantly furious. No one had dared to address him like this in years, let alone threaten him. As the leader of mutants, he was accustomed to respect from fellow mutants.

Yet he quickly suppressed his anger. The person before him wasn't as benevolent as Professor X; he was capable of killing. He had already dispatched countless mutants sent to capture him, and just now, he had eliminated dozens more. The number of mutants who had died at his hands surely exceeded three digits.

"Very well, Old man. Those who understand the situation are wise. The elderly should spend more time drinking tea and dancing in the square, rather than constantly contemplating war, killing, or overthrowing the world!" Arthur sighed.

Magneto sneered in response. "I won't need your advice!"

Arthur shook his head helplessly. With a wave of his hand, the metal storm suspended in mid-air descended like rain.

"Ah!"

"What's happening? It's not raining today, yet iron is falling..."

"My god, I don't want to die!"

Ignoring the lamentations, Arthur soared into the sky.
