"Powerful power! Absolute rationality! This is the weapon I've longed for!"
General Ross exclaimed, looking greedily at Arthur.
"Are you crazy?"
Ross's daughter, Betty Ross, who was also Hulk's girlfriend, looked at him in shock.
"I'm not crazy! Once I have him, I can research the most powerful weapon!"
General Ross had become consumed by his thirst for power.
"He just saved us! How could you do that?"
Betty tried to dissuade her father.
"What do you know? Besides, I'm not going to kill him. I just want him to cooperate with our research!"
"His strength is so powerful that even Hulk can't match him. Do you really think he'll be caught without a fight?"
"Hmph! As long as he lives in the United States, I can handle him!"
Ross smiled disdainfully and spoke coldly.
"You're a horrible person, and I won't let you do this!"
Betty stood in front of Ross, attempting to block his path.
"I don't need your permission! Soldier, take her to a safe place and lock her up. Don't let her out without my orders."
Ross commanded a tall soldier standing nearby.
"Yes, sir!"
The soldiers then took Betty away, paying no attention to her resistance.
...
"Have you found anything?"
Ross asked a technician on the plane.
"I found the general. Here is all the information we have on the superhero,"
the technician replied, handing over a file.
"Arthur! Chinese! Orphan! Lives in Queens, New York..." Ross frowned as he perused the file.
"Does this person have any relatives?"
Ross inquired of the technician beside him.
"According to the report, sir, he does not. This person seems to be very withdrawn and has no family or friends," the technician responded.
"This makes things more difficult!" Ross sighed.
Initially, Ross had hoped to find Arthur's family and use them as leverage to coerce him into submission. It was a common tactic used by those in power to manipulate superheroes. However, he had not anticipated encountering someone like Arthur, who had no apparent weaknesses.
"It seems we'll have to resort to more forceful measures," Ross concluded.
Utilizing the army within the city posed certain risks, as it could lead to public complaints. Nevertheless, capturing Superman held far greater benefits.
...
On the ground, Arthur was receiving cheers from the people when suddenly a line of armored vehicles appeared on the street, accompanied by a dozen helicopters that surrounded him.
"What's happening?"
"Why is the army here?"
"The monster didn't show up when it attacked the city earlier. Now that the threat is eliminated, why are they here?"
The crowd of onlookers expressed their confusion and questioned the presence of the military.
Heavily armed soldiers disembarked from the armored vehicles and began driving the crowd away.
"What are you doing?"
"You have no right to do that!"
"I will file a complaint and have your commanding officer finished!"
In one of the planes, a soldier grabbed a loudspeaker and addressed the crowd.
"Everyone, please step aside. This person is suspected of destroying important national experimental materials, causing destruction in the city, and committing crimes against national security. We are now arresting him in accordance with the law. Please do not hinder us."
"Are you blind? It was Superman who saved us!"
"What the **** are you **** trying to accomplish?"
"My father is a member of parliament. I'll have him complain about you when I get back. You're done!"
The surrounding people expressed their strong dissatisfaction, but in the face of heavily armed soldiers, they reluctantly cooperated and moved outside the cordoned area.
"So, they're planning to attack me?"
Arthur smiled faintly, paying little attention to the situation.
A helicopter slowly descended from the sky, and an old man with white hair, displaying a strong physique, stepped out. It was General Ross.
"Hello, sir. First of all, thank you for your tremendous help!"
Ross approached Arthur, speaking kindly.
"Thank me? Is surrounding me with troops your idea of gratitude, General Ross?"
Arthur pointed to the soldiers around him, sneering as he spoke.
"Sir! The creature you just killed was an important subject of our military's experiment. Not only did you kill him, but you also destroyed his body. This has resulted in significant losses for our military. Additionally, during the battle, your actions caused damage to the properties of numerous citizens. Your behavior has violated the laws of the United States. We need to have a thorough understanding of the situation, and we hope you will cooperate."
"Just cooperate with you to understand the situation? No plans to dissect me?"
"Of course not! Regardless, you're the hero who saved New York City. We would never do such a thing to you. Please trust the American military!"
Ross spoke with a serious expression.
"What if I refuse?"
Arthur replied with a mischievous smile.
"Sir, I'm not joking. I hope you'll cooperate with our efforts. It is the duty of every citizen in the United States. If you refuse to cooperate, these soldiers surrounding you will ensure your compliance!" Ross declared.
As soon as Ross finished speaking, all the guns held by the soldiers flew out of their hands, suspended in mid-air, and aimed back at them. The helicopters also lost control, their weapons now pointed directly at Ross.
"What are you doing?"
Ross asked in horror as he noticed the helicopters' weapons aimed at him.
"General, something's wrong! All the aircraft are out of control!"
The pilot's anxious voice came through the communicator, reaching Ross's ears.
Ross's face turned pale, his complexion resembling that of a lifeless corpse. Trembling, he stuttered,
"Is this also your doing?"
"What do you think?"
Arthur yanked Ross forcefully, knocking him off his feet. Ross spun through the air, landing on the ground with a series of rotations. He spat out a mouthful of blood, which mixed with the shattered remains of his teeth.
