The Revero Household was once a very prestigious and powerful family. They were not a member of the peerage but they were wealthy and influential merchants.
Due to their influence in the Kane Dukedom, the Duke himself offered an arranged marriage between their families to further increase the influence of his family and gain some control over the Revero Household's booming power.
Since Althea was already in an arranged marriage with another merchant family by then, her younger sister was the one set up to marry the first son of the Duke.
