The [Heaton Seal] does not limit the number of people the user can protect outside oneself, but the volume of the shield summoned by the seal is a fixed value, barely enough to fully protect two adults hugging each other. But for Shard, he can expand the volume of the shield by paying extra Spirit. This expansion also has an upper limit, but it's more than enough to protect Shard standing with someone else shoulder to shoulder.
