The muscly panther thing had a weird form of regeneration. Kat hadn't been expecting it… but it did make more sense as to why it wasn't concerned with all of the injuries it was taking nor the fact its face was on fire. After around a minute of combat, the top half of its body was all alight and glowing with purple flames. It simply wriggled a bit and then layers upon layers of skin and muscle just fell off. Like a mud sculpture collapsing in on itself in the rain.
Once the excess muscle, fat and skin had been left behind it started to freeze quicker… but some of that excess had managed to block the hole two kids had been huddled inside. Kat had to use up more mental energy ensuring that it didn't extend further into the hole, just in case, and that was making it hard. Especially when, now free of much of its excessive weight and poor muscle distribution the beast was a lot faster.
